She just didn’t expect to be distracted by Corbin Kasey.
Twenty-five-year-old Corbin Kasey is stuck in his hometown, his job, and his life, spending more time covering for his Dad’s problems than trying to fix his own. To take his mind off everything he has the wild Kayla, his stable roommates, and the calmness of swimming in Mills Lake. He always thought it was enough to keep him from drowning in himself, until he meets Sophia.
Neither of them are prepared for their lies to be stripped away by a single kiss. But for Corbin and Sophia, the truth has consequences.
*NA romance- Mature content*
There comes a time in a person's life when they have had enough. They feel that they need to go and get away-run away- so that they can live the life that they want, and not the one that others want them to live. That is what Sophia wants. To just live her life the way that she wants to live it. Not in the shadow of her brother who tragicly died, not in the way that her parents a doctor and a lawyer have laid out for her, but the way that SHE wants. Who could blame her-right. So Sophia runs off to a small town where NO ONE knows her, she can reinvent herself and live the life that she wants. She replies to a want ad to live with a couple who are having a baby and need the extra income and take a job in a bar as a waitress. Little did she know, there was more in store for her when she meets Corbin,
Now Corbin is not your run of the mill bad boy. He has a past and is making up for the mistakes that he has made. He is basicly running the bar that his drunk as sin dad owns, while working his own job. He has his own family issues and is pretty much having "Friends with Benefits" sex with the other waitress in the bar.
I will admit that I almost passed on this book. It looked like your run of the mill good girl meets bad boy. One or both of them are running from their past. In a way- yes- it was like that, but at the same time, the other characters in the book are beyond great. This is not a story about one girl and one boy-well it is- but it is about a group of people that along the way make up their own family. People who would stick up for one another no matter what happens. THAT is why I loved this book. Of course, I love Corbin. Who wouldn't with the awesome lines that TJ Hannah has him say, but it is the actions that he portrays that speak louder then the words that he says.
The emotions in this book are high, but you are not going to hate where they take you. You will laugh, you will cry, and laugh again. In the end, you will feel like family. I can't wait for the 2nd book in the series in 2014. I will definitely be checking it out.
