Manwhore. Adrenaline junkie. Lead singer of ContraBand. What you see is what you get. I make no apologies for my actions, and by now no one expects any from me. I live my life the way I want and as long as it pushes the demons back, then I'm solid. I've never needed a chick for more than a good lay. Why would I need just one when I can have a different one every night?
Until she walks into my world.
Mouthy. Perfectionist. Princeton student. Chemistry major. Yes, that pretty much describes me. Oh, and virgin. But I'm only nineteen, and have more important things to concern myself with. What really matters is finishing my degree and getting a good job. I’ve worked hard for what I want, and do what’s expected of me. I don’t need anyone to get in my way.
Until he opens up my world.
But if I give you my world, whatever you do…don’t TAKE ME for granted.
“So, you won’t let me in then?” He hovered mere inches away from me.
“I’m not sure how many more times I have to tell you that you can’t come inside,” I said irritably.
A smile crossed his face, the same one that had done me in the last time we’d been together. I could feel the tension crackling between us, like a struck match or a zap of static.
“Fine,” he said.
Then, he grabbed me around the waist, yanked me outside, and dropped his mouth down onto mine hungrily. I lost myself in his lips. His hands ducked under my sweater, and his fingers dug into my soft flesh beneath. And without even realizing it, I was grasping his T-shirt for dear life and feeling the cold metal of his dog tags in my hands.
Holy shit! I’d never been kissed like this before. My whole body was on fire, and his lips were just fueling the flame. Burning desire snaked through me, starting in my fingertips, scorching through my chest, and settling in my core.
Grant walked me backward into my apartment and slammed the door shut. My back hit the wall, but our lips never broke apart. His hands ventured up my shirt, and I stopped breathing as he trailed his fingers lightly along my ribs. He skimmed the underside of my breast, and a groan escaped my lips. I squirmed against him, wanting what he was offering and silently freaking the fuck out.
Take Me For Granted by K.A. Linde is the first novel in her Take Me Series, and is another knockout read from this talented author. I fell in love with K.A. Linde’s books with her angst-fueled Avoiding Series and continued my adoration with her recent release, Off the Record. As much as I crave drama and angst, I know it’s not something every reader is into. Take Me For Granted provides readers with a softened dose of angst and drama than they may be used to from Linde. For this reason, I highly recommend this novel to anyone looking to become familiar with K.A. Linde’s novels, but who have been hesitant or intimidated by the heavy angst in her previous releases.
This story has it all – delicious bad boy, fiery and brilliant heroine, a captivating plot, and a romantic connection that will have ladies swooning hard. I was absolutely enamored by Take Me For Granted from start to finish. I adored Aribel. She’s the kind of gal you want to be friends with. She’s witty and doesn’t let anyone take advantage of her, but there’s a side of naivety that softens her character’s fiery attitude. As for Grant, he is everything a girl secretly desires, but outwardly loathes. He devours women like he’s on a binge at Golden Corral, which is a huge turnoff for anyone thinking clearly like Aribel. She wants nothing to do with this playboy despite his attraction to her. The temptation of what you can’t have proves too much for Grant as he ignores her rejections and relentlessly pursues this fave femme of mine.
Sparks fly, emotions are tested, and romance ignites the pages of Take Me For Granted. As I said before, I could not get enough of this novel. I loved the witty banter and chemistry between the lead characters. It was also a delight to meet the supporting cast of characters who will get their own novels in the Take Me Series. I cannot wait for the next installment! I was immersed in this plot and waivered between heartwarming butterflies and wanting to shake some sense into the hero and heroine. This novel has just enough drama and angst to hold your attention and keep you engaged, but not enough to leave a sour taste when you reach the end.
If you haven’t had the pleasure of reading K.A. Linde’s novels and are reluctant to start with something angst-fueled, I urge you to crack open Take Me For Granted. It is the perfect mix of bad boy rocker and sassy yet studious leading lady. With a story so enticing you’ll be hooked from the first page and be left begging for the next novel in K.A. Linde’s Take Me Series by the very end.
