Soldier On by Sydney Young Blog Tour

 Release Date: June 20
Genres: Romance/Military/New Adult

Will his call of duty break both their hearts?

Losing her father in Desert Storm has left Stephanie James with a bitter soul when it comes to the military. As a college senior juggling a full course load, Steph's only goal is to graduate with honors at the end of the semester. She’s focused, determined, and a firm believer in all work and no play. Then she meets Brandon Walker at a New Year’s Eve costume party. Despite his disguise, Steph finds herself attracted to the camouflaged soldier who curls her toes with a scorching midnight kiss.

Brandon is an engineering major and ROTC student from the hills of Kentucky. Growing up as the son of a major general has given Brandon firsthand knowledge of the struggles military families sometimes face. Now that his father’s memory is fading, Brandon is even more determined to make his dad proud and graduate as an officer in the United States Army. Then he meets Stephanie, and suddenly, his focus is less on his military service and more on the pretty brunette who has stolen his heart. When he becomes aware of Steph’s resentment toward the military, he worries their relationship is doomed.

When faced with the realization that she's fallen in love with a soldier, can Steph’s wounds from the past be healed with love in her present . . . and in her future?

It was a bit refreshing to read this book. It is not often that a book without sex is able to keep my interest. As I was reading this, it reminded me of a Hallmark Movie. You are drawn to it, it is a nice wholesome book, and you try your hardest not to cry. Then at the end, your let out that deep breath that you didn't even know that you were holding.

Stephanie James has every right to not like the US Military. She was never able to meet her father after he was killed before she was born in Desert Storm. She always believed that her father put the Army before his family. That is was more important then she would ever be.

Brandon Walker is from a military family. His dad has always instilled in him that he needed to serve his country. He put himself through college on a ROTC scholarship and knew that he would be spending the next 4 years serving his country after he graduated. He has no reason not to want to---until he meets Steph and he starts to question the decisions that he made 4 years ago.

I love the way that the story plays on in this book. Steph and Brandon meet at a New Years Eve party and share one hot and heavy kiss. They both are looking for each other and just happen to have the same Woman's Lit class. From there, it is a building of the relationship from lust, to friendship, to enemy, to friends and back to lust. Along the way, you wonder if Brandon is going to be able to tell her that he is a soldier, but that she is the only reason that if he could back out of his contract, he would.
I will say that there are times in the book that you don't know if you want to take her side of his side. I just know that in the end, I want to be on both of their teams-the one that they make together
