Blog Tour: The Fate Series by Emersyn Vallis

Series: Fate Series
Author: Emersyn Vallis
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release Date: Available Now

When I chose to leave home I knew what I was giving up. I knew I was walking away from life as I knew it and the plans that we had made. We…us…him and I…
It’s funny to think of him in a different light…or life.
That’s what it feels like, a lifetime ago.
But I’m a different person now. I have rules and goals. And if it wasn’t for my parents' vow renewal I would have successfully evaded him for the rest of my life. This is not by choice, I can tell you that.
I just need to focus and remember the key to this weekend is avoidance…and alcohol. But if anyone can pull that off it’s me,
Sidney Chandler, queen of avoiding anything that will make me feel.
It’s just one weekend, right?
One very long weekend with my family…friends…my sisters and me…together, and our nemeses, the McAllister triplets.
What could possibly go wrong?
They say you never forget your first love, now just imagine how hard it is to forget your only.
This is going to suck.

I honestly don’t even know how to begin this review. When I started the book it bounced around a lot and I kind of had a hard time following it. I really didn't get into it until about 30%. After that I was hooked and stayed up until midnight to finish it. Adjournment is based around two families, the Chandlers and the McAllisters.

Sidney Chandler is the main female and we meet her first. She left home to become a make-up artist of the stars and avoids going home and anything from her past. She is in charge of her life and she doesn't let anything from the past get to her. Sidney has a bit of an anger issue it would seem and an addiction to peanut butter cups. I was cracking up at some of the things that have happened in her life. Her best friends Lexi and Jacob know her number and try to prevent anything from going haywire while they go out. Sidney is famous for throwing her shoes at a certain somebody who she tries her hardest to avoid…Simon McAllister.

Simon McAllister met Sidney back when they were young in the Hamptons. Both their parents have houses there. You don’t get to know much about Simon in the beginning but we do know he broke Sidney’s heart and is now a womanizer. Oh, did I mention he has two brothers? TRIPLETS! Sidney tries to avoid Simon at all costs but sometimes that doesn't happen being that they live in the same city. Simon knows how to press Sidney’s buttons and seems to love to do it.

The story is a huge cat and mouse game between Simon and Sidney. They can’t avoid each other when Sidney has to go home for a party. The past, the present and the future are all put out on the table. But that’s not all! I loved that we get a lot of story with other characters. We get Simon’s brothers, Chase and Dean, Sidney’s sisters, Molly and Morgan (OMG you will roll laughing with these two. All I can say is fire!). We also get both sets of parents, Uncles and a Grandmother. Mrs. Chandler is a riot but one even better is her mother who they call Grams. Oh the things that come out of her mouth lol! Mrs. McAllister on the other hand is a straight bitch. ALL these characters make this book and you can’t help but laugh when all the siblings get together.

You also get some mystery too. I found myself wondering many times where this was going to go, and as my kindle went closer to 90% I knew we wouldn't be getting them all in this book. Guess I should check things out before I read lol. Anyway, I am so glad I kept reading. By the time I finished I was a huge fan of Emersyn Vallis! Adjournment had the right amount of everything. Laughter, steamy scenes, heart clincher moments and mystery! Give it a shot, I honestly don’t think you will be disappointed! Oh and pay attention… there are little details that I know will come to light in the next few books that I can’t wait for! And that last part of the book….. please hurry with book two!!

We all have choices in life… paths to take… roads  to follow…. It’s on those journeys that fate finds us and takes us where we need to be… Without a second glance we can be taken away from things we know… "people we love" and given a new life...
One that can change us… save us…

What would you do if fate dropped you at a crossroads? Would you go back? Or would you run like hell the other way?

Hanging Pawns is book two in the Fate Series. You do need to read book one, Adjournment, before you start this one. That being said, if you don’t like being left wanting more from a story and have to wait for the next book to arrive, you may want to wait to read these books until all books are released. I personally love this series and can’t wait to grab the next! To read my five star review of Adjournment click here.

Hanging Pawns is book two but it follows around two different lead characters. Adjournment was Simon and Sidney’s story; Hanging Pawns is Josh and Mea’s. We met both Josh and Mea in Adjournment but don’t really know too much about them. The story takes us back to college where Josh and Mea meet in 2002.

Hanging Pawns is written in Mea’s point of view and starts with us getting to know her and her family. Mea is the outcast of her very wealthy family. Her mother seems like a straight up bitch while her father just basically ignores everything going on. Mea’s sisters are married but really their marriages are for money not for love - just how their mother wants it. Mea doesn’t want to be married for money she wants the real deal; she also can’t agree with anything her mother wants. After an accident that happens, Mea decides it’s time to leave home for good and start a life of her own. Something her father always tells her sticks in her mind, “Time is precious; make sure you always keep track of it” and that is exactly what she is going to do.

While in line registering for college courses, Josh notices Mea. He decides to make his move on her and cuts the line. Pricilla, who we met in Adjournment, is standing behind Mea when Josh makes his move. She is the same nasty bitch that she was in the first book and decides to tell Josh that Mea is basically trash; that he shouldn’t waste his time. Mea is intrigued by Josh when he stands his ground, disregarding Pricilla’s warning about her but she still wants nothing to do with him. Mea bides her time in line to be called to register so they can just go their separate ways. Easy right? No…fate has a nasty way of interfering and Josh just seems so perfect. Makes me wonder what else is going on that we haven’t seen yet.

“Because when I looked at you, I saw my entire world, and it was as though someone turned a light switch. I just wanted to be the one to turn yours on”

I’m not one for spoiler reviews so that’s basically all I am going to give you on story line. I will tell you all of my favorites are back in book two. The triplets! Yes! Simon, Dean and Chase and Oh. My. God. they are even better this round. Molly and Morgan have big roles just like the brothers. I love the interaction between these two families, its freaking hilarious and keeps you interested the whole time. We also get more of the whole Chandler family and what it was like not having Sidney around during the holidays.

This story, just like the last one, is one big freaking puzzle. A couple times I found myself switching back over to Adjournment to see if I was remembering something correctly and then flipping back to Hanging Pawns. Some pieces are put together while others just keep getting more interesting. I’m VERY curious as to where these stories are leading and what these McAllister brothers are up to! Well…to be honest what the hell EVERYONE is up to!

For years my life was in a state of Adjournment…
Fate had constructed a plan to push me away… to save me…
There was a danger I never knew existed, one I had never sensed.
My family positioned themselves around me.
Like Hanging Pawns, they shielded me from it and I lived blissfully unaware… until now.
Now, I know there are rules to this game...
Sacrifices to be made in order to get to End Game.
What would I Sacrifice for one more moment... one last look? Touch? Kiss?
The answer is simple…

Sacrifice is book three in the Fate Series. You have to read Adjournment and Hanging Pawns before you start this book. My review may contain spoilers if you read it without reading the series in order.

When I found out Sacrifice goes back to Sidney’s POV I was very happy! I love Sidney’s character, everything she thinks is hilarious. Of course Hanging Pawns brought us some much needed information from Mea and Josh but I’m glad to be back with Sidney and Simon.

Now that the real Sidney is back everyone seems to be moving along perfectly. Simon and Sidney are very much together even though it hasn’t be made official and she hasn’t told Simon she loves him yet. These two together are HOT. Gah, I love Simon! He always puts Sidney before himself. I love that he stashes peanut butter cups for her when they attend events, anyone who does that is a keeper. I just can’t get enough of their love-hate relationship.

“Love is an emotion that people forget easily… they forget the feeling of being loved and being in love. Anger, on the other hand, even the hardest of hearts knows.”

Pricilla is up to her conniving ways again. She wants Simon for herself but she isn’t going to get him. She pushes everyone’s buttons and tries to make Sidney’s life hell, but Sidney is stronger than that, and seems to stay a step ahead of her. Hello Natalia, lol. One thing I love about Emersyn’s books is that she keeps you updated on everyone. We get more Dean and Molly, Morgan and Chase (LOVE him), Sidney and Simon, Josh and Mea, Brett, Lexi, Mrs. Chandler, Judith and Lady (bitch). You even get to see Grams a little bit. Not as much as I was hoping for but she’s in there!

The girls have a Vegas trip planned this time and the boys end up crashing their party. When you get them all together with alcohol anything is possible. This was one of my favorite parts of the book. We get to see a very fun side of Sidney after she takes a spill.

Lexi is becoming one of my top characters in this series. She’s freaking hilarious and when she’s around it’s always a good time. Chase is funny and just as devious as Sidney. It’s fun watching Simon squirm when Chase is with Sidney. Mea holds a special place with me after reading Hanging Pawns. I love that her and Sidney are getting closer.

Mea speaks up before I can think of something to say “To a non-friendship and twats, may the non-friendship stay warm even after the fire has gone out and the twats burn in hell from the embers” Umm… well, how can I not toast to that?

When I buy a book sometimes I’m disappointed in the length. I feel series books get shorter and shorter but not this one. I’m satisfied with the lengths of all the books in the Fate Series. Each book fits everything in with just enough story so it’s not rushed and it’s not over kill. Sacrifice gives you the same mystery the first two books do. As you go along you see pieces to the puzzle come out but even when you get to the scene it still gives you the WTF moment. And then……. CLIFF WARNING!! This book does end with a cliff. I cursed Emersyn when I finished and almost threw my kindle. That being said she left me wanting the next book immediately so I say, well done Emersyn, well done. I will NOT so patiently wait for End Game to arrive to get Simon and Sidney’s closure... as well as everyone else’s.

“Our love story is like standing too close to a lit explosive. It’s mesmerizing to watch the flint flicker and crack as it races down its path. You know it’s going to go off; it has to…. that’s its purpose. You just didn’t realize the destructiveness one spark can make until you’re left lying in the ruins of what was once a beautiful landscape.”

I’ll leave you with one random quote, one I have to agree with just because I was able to experience myself this year, which is:
“There really is nothing like a New York street vendor hotdog. It’s warm and soft but not soggy; the meat snaps a little as you bite into it. It’s an experience everyone needs at least once in their life."
P.S. you might laugh every time you eat a hot dog now!

Once upon time, there were two girls living their lives completely unaware of one another and the dangerous game they had been placed in…
Until Fate found them…
Fate saved them, made them stronger & with time, Fate brought them together to become friends rather than enemies…
Until a cruel Queen made her move, threatened the Knight,
And an innocent Pawn was sacrificed…
Now the game is in our hands…
Fate might have set us up for this… but we control the moves now…
And we have our own plan.
End Game is book four in the Fate Series. You must read Adjournment, Hanging Pawns and Sacrifice before you touch this book. Being that this is the final book, I can’t tell you much about the story. I will tell you to hold on because it will be a wild ride with lots of sharp and unexpected turns.

Going into this story I knew it would be nothing like the other three stories. How could it with the way Sacrifice ended? We need answers and they needed to come fast! Every book in this series was one I couldn’t put down. I read until I was about ready to pass out then slept a few hours and started right where I left off. I was nervous through the whole book wondering when Emersyn was going to do something I wouldn’t like. I pretty much second guessed everything and played Sherlock Homes the whole time. I’m happy to say I didn’t want to throw my kindle at her this time. She did the story right. And there was no cliff at the end!

End Game has plenty of feels. All your emotions will get a work out. I loved the suspense the most. What’s going to happen next? When you think you know… you don’t. We get the perfect ending for an awesome series! And that epilogue! I was hoping it would give me everything I needed and it did. I look forward to seeing these characters in upcoming stories to see how they’re doing!

And Emersyn…
"Ultimately it comes down to you’re either a tawt or you’re not"
I’ll proudly say I’m a twat!

End Game

Emersyn Vallis is a first time author with Adjournment being the first book in the Fated Series. Currently residing on the east coast with her husband and three children she is typically mistaken for being quiet and reserved her friends often describe her as a spastic spider monkey and always the first to be there with her quick wit to pull you back up when you’re feeling down. After reading as a hobby for most of her life it wasn’t until she had discovered R. L. Mathewson’s ‘Neighbor from Hell Series’ and Tara Sivec’s ‘Playing with Fire Series’ that she came up with the idea to fuse comedy and suspense together and her passion for writing was born.
