When Brent Mason looks at Kennedy Randolph, he doesn’t see the awkward, sweet girl who grew up next door. He sees a self-assured, stunning woman…who wants to crush the most intimate - and prized - parts of his anatomy beneath the heels of her Christian Louboutins.
Brent has never let the loss of his leg in a childhood accident affect his ability to lead a fulfilling life. He sets high goals–and then he reaches them.
And now he has his sights set on Kennedy.
When Kennedy looks at Brent Mason, all she sees is the selfish, Abercrombie & Fitch catalogue-worthy teenager who humiliated her in high school to join the popular crowd. A crowd that made those years a living hell.
She’s not a lovesick social outcast anymore - she’s a DC prosecutor with a long winning streak behind her. Brent is the opposing attorney in her next case and she thinks it’s time to put him through a little hell of his own.
But things aren’t exactly working out that way.
Because every fiery exchange has her wondering if he’s as passionate in the bedroom as he is in the courtroom. Each argument and objection only makes him want her more. In the end, Brent and Kennedy may just find themselves in love…or in contempt of court.
APPEALED is a sexy, humorous romance about first crushes, second chances and the final verdict of the heart.
I. Love. This. Series. The Legal Briefs series has cemented it's place in my top five series. Appealed is book three in this series. If you haven't read the first two (how have you not read these?!) don't read this one yet. While technically each book is a standalone, a lot of information will get spoiled if you don't read them in order.
Appealed is the story of Brent Mason and Kennedy Randolph. I couldn't wait to dive into this and get inside Brent's head. I have loved him since the first book and my love for him grew throughout each book. Brent is a playboy defense attorney who refuses to settle down. He sees no reason what so ever to get into a relationship, much less a long term one. That is until Kennedy comes crashing back into his life. I loved how no nonsense Brent is, yet he has the heart of gold. He really is a true gentleman. He may have been born with a silver spoon in his mouth but you would never know it. He doesn't act like a better than you, stuck up prick. I swore Jake Becker couldn't be topped. I was wrong. Brent Mason trumps Jake Becker with a royal flush.
Kennedy Randolph used to be Brent Mason's best friend. That is until a series of events changed all that. Kennedy walked out of Brent's life fourteen years ago and has absolutely no intention of getting back into his life. Kennedy has become my favorite female character in this series. Her sassy mouth puts Brent in his place and I loved every single minute of it. While Kennedy is beautiful, she is also incredibly smart. She has walls built up around her heart and after slowly finding out why, I don't blame her.
Watching the story of Brent and Kennedy unfold was my favorite part of this book. Little by little Emma Chase gives us information. Because of that, I was glued to my kindle. I couldn't put it down. I had to know what happened in the past and I couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen in the future. I had to know how their story, and the series ended.
Appealed has all the charm that is known and loved from Emma Chase. She mixes the perfect amount of humor, sass, and love into it. She also threw in a little angst and this is the perfect book.
I am sad this series is over. It's like saying goodbye to friends I have grown to love, knowing I will never see them again. I highly recommend this book as well as this entire series. I promise you won't be disappointed.
I swear each book in Emma Chase's Legal Briefs series is better than the last. This has effortlessly become one of my favorite series because the characters, the plot, the writing -- it's all just phenomenal. It broke my heart to see this series end, but Chase didn't disappoint with the final story, Appealed.
I love the hero and heroine for countless reasons. This is a second chance romance where Brent Mason and Kennedy Randolph find themselves crossing paths again years after their relationship crumbled. Of course, they're on opposite sides of the courtroom which only ignites the chemistry between them even more. She wants to crush his heart as payback for all those years ago. He wants to rekindle what they once had. Regardless of their motives, neither can deny the flame still burns bright between them. Readers will love getting to delve deeper into Brent's world. Despite his put together exterior, he's got painful skeletons that I never expected. Kennedy is a red-headed firecracker whose past life still haunts her present.
Without giving away the good stuff in the plot, I recommend everyone just one-click Appealed and find out what magic lies within its pages. Emma Chase is brilliant and knows how to write humor, romance, and a damn good story. This book can be read as a stand alone, but as I mentioned before, it is a part of the Legal Briefs Series. These books are so incredible, you'll want to discover each character and explore each story for yourself!
