New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Jay Crownover returns with a heart-stopping new series… Welcome to the Point.
There’s a difference between a bad boy and a boy who’s bad . . . meet Shane Baxter.
Sexy, dark, and dangerous, Bax isn’t just from the wrong side of the tracks, he is the wrong side of the tracks. A criminal, a thug, and a brawler, he’s the master of bad choices, until one such choice landed him in prison for five years. Now Bax is out and looking for answers, and he doesn’t care what he has to do or who he has to hurt to get them. But there’s a new player in the game, and she’s much too innocent, much too soft…and standing directly in his way.
Dovie Pryce knows all about living a hard life and the tough choices that come with it. She’s always tried to be good, tried to help others, and tried not to let the darkness pull her down. But the streets are fighting back, things have gone from bad to worse, and the only person who can help her is the scariest, sexiest, most complicated ex-con The Point has ever produced.
Bax terrifies her, awakening feelings she never thought she’d have for a guy like him. But it doesn’t take Dovie long to realize . . . some boys are just better when they’re bad.
When we heard this book
has a "bad boy" we immediately thought of a tattooed, motorcycle
riding, cocky attitude, womanizer. What we found in this book (and what
Jay will explain) is that "bad boy" really means just that. Shane
Baxter aka Bax is from the wrong side of town. You know that part of town in
almost ever city where you lock your doors and don't look around when you drive
through? Well, welcome to The Point. Its not his fault where he comes
from but he takes pride in it and had adapted to it. He needs money, he
has street smarts, put both those together and bam you got your bad boy who can
do almost anything. Yes, he has tattoos, a cocky attitude and loves his
women, but there's so much more than that.
Bax's best friend Race isn't
from the same part of town but he likes to hang out there. Race is from money,
he is book smart and has a bright future ahead. Between Bax’s street
smarts and Race’s book smarts, they make an almost unstoppable team as thieves.
Race and Bax want out of their life of crime; but it’s a little too late when
Bax gets caught during a car jacking, sending him away for five years.
When Bax returns to The Point after his release he finds his best friend,
Race is missing. In an effort to
find him, worried about the strange circumstances of his disappearance, he
discovers he wasn’t the only one wanting answers and to find Race. While
searching for Race, Bax meets Dovie Pryce. He doesn't know how important
Dovie is going to be when he meets her, but you can tell it is going to be big. She’s a connection to finding Race that
Bax wants noting to do with.
Dovie herself is from the
wrong side of her town. Her mother is a drug addict and she has learned
how to skip by without causing any trouble. She wears baggy clothes to
hide her figure and uses her street smarts when she ends up in The Point at the
hands of her brother. As things become complicated in The Point,
Dovie is no longer safe on her own and she has to lean on Bax for help.
Of course she is attracted to Bax, who wouldn't be? He’s hot and
dangerous…she can smell trouble on him. She ends up falling for the bad boy,
and when you fall for the bad boy its never a good thing.
While reading the story we
found ourselves trying to piece the mystery together. Once we thought we
had it, it would take a different turn. That alone was fun but
frustrating! The story started out a bit slow for us but by the end when the
mysteries start unraveling it was full force and we couldn't put it down.
As more was revealed some things went as planned, while others took a
turn for the worse. One big reveal had us saying WHAT?!
The Point Series is very
different from the Marked Men Series, which is a Mean Girl favorite. The
Point Series takes you into a different side of life that many of us don't have
any idea about. It was refreshing to read something out side of the box
and fun because it keeps you guessing. The next book is set to be Race's
story and we can't wait to get into his head to hear his side of the story!
