Safe Bet by Monica Murphy is a quick, light read. This is a sweet Contemporary Romance that is perfect for a few hours of escape. This story has a New Adult feel to me, but sits firmly in the contemporary genre of romance.

Sydney is kicked out of her home due to a huge mistake she made. She is left with nothing and no where to go. When she lands a job as a live-in nanny, she finds her luck turn around. Unfortunately, the press turns a family outing into an affair between her and her boss, football star Drew Callahan, and her life turns upside down once again. They come up with a plan for her and one of Drew's teammates, Wade, to fake date. The only problem is, neither is looking for a relationship and fighting their attraction gets harder the more time they spend together.

I mostly liked this story. As I said, it is a sweet and quick read. However, I felt that maybe it was too quick. At times, the story felt a little flat and rushed. I did like the relationship between Wade and Sydney. I loved how once he knew what he wanted with her, he wasn't afraid to go after it. I just wish it could have been strung out a little longer.

Enchanting Wilder by Cassie Graham is a very original paranormal romance. There is a little bit of everything in this book from witches to demons to angels to hybrids. This book contains paranormal beings galore!

McKenna is the witch that this story is mostly centered around. She is a Strix, which is a good witch that tries to help people choose the good path. She and her sister are left to run the family business and carry out their legacy, but then, things start getting weird. Declan is a Pursuer. He is mortal, but he fights all things evil. When he meets McKenna, there is a unexplainable pull towards each other. As the two start to slowly give in to the pull, secrets come out. The duo, along with their siblings and one demon in touch with his humanity, wade through the secrets to find a way to save the world.

This story was definitely one of a kind. This book was up and down for me. At times, the story felt slow, but then it would suddenly pick up and I was hit with (almost) information overload. Even with all the things thrown into the story, it was quite easy to follow. I didn't feel lost in the least. I was just hoping for a bit more action and adventure than I got.

I have mixed feeling with this book. On one hand, I thought that it was pretty good. The writing flowed and the story had a great pace. On the other, I just had a hard time connecting with the heroine, Morgan and some parts of this book was really hard for me to swallow. It was hard for me to buy in that she was one way in New York and another way in Cherryville. The difference between the two was so stark that it seemed like two different characters. I would think that the two would somewhat blend together a little more and not be so drastically different.

Morgan returns to Cherryville when her grandmother dies and she is left with her whole estate. Cherryville is where she spent her summer as a youth until something tragic happens and forces her hand. When she wasn't in Cherryville, she spent her time in New York City doing and being everything that her father expected of her. Once grown, she is still doing her father's bidding and is always under his thumb, no matter how much she hates it. I liked Cherryville Morgan. She was more relaxed, caring, and easy to relate to. NYC Morgan was an uptight, unfeeling, socialite that used men. Like I said already, it was difficult for me to wrap my head around the difference of New York City Morgan and Cherryville Morgan. I can somewhat understand the why the difference, but I just can't get over how drastic the two sides of her are.

Taylor lives in Cherryville. He spent his youth in love with Morgan until tragedy forces his hand and he has to push her away. When he hears that she is back, he is leery, but knows he needs to set things right with her. Once he sees her and talks with her, he is determined that she will be his again. He never stopped loving her, and she him. I loved Taylor. His steadfastness is one of the things that made me enjoy this book. His son CJ is a sweet addition to this story, one that I enjoyed a lot as well.

Walking Among the Cherry Trees was a well thought out book. I can tell the author put time into this story. Everything was smooth and, well, it's just well written. Emotions jumped off the pages and, at times, my heart ached for the characters. I just wish I could have made that connection with Morgan. I really think that if I could have, it would have elevated this book from good to great.
