Blog Tour: Three Simple Rules by Nikki Sloane

3 rules cover

I would do anything for my dream job. Now I have to. In order to save my skin at the office, I'm forced to sell it at an exclusive and illegal blindfold club. He paid thousands of dollars for one night to own me, but when my blindfold comes off, I want more. More nights, more rules, and more from this unavailable and uncompromising man. Rule number one, no questions. Rule number two, no lies. But, rule number three? That's the hardest one to obey.

This book contains strong sexual content and is intended for mature audiences only.

This book is HOT, HOT, HOT! I mean crank up the A/C; the temperature will rise. Not only is it scorching, but it has a great storyline. Evie made a mistake at work. One that she has to pay out of pocket for and she doesn't have the money. Her friend Payton convinces her to try out her source of income for some quick cash. Payton works at an exclusive club. With no other way to get the money and her job on the line, Evie has no other choice but to sell herself to the highest bidder.

Logan "buys" Evie for the evening and it is an explosive evening. Added to it, he is her boss. The two embark on a very hot relationship. They both like giving orders, and it seems at times, they both like following. Their relationship develops quickly and becomes very serious. However, it is forbidden at work. Evie is up for a promotion and they have to keep their relationship secret.

This was a great read! I could not put this book down. Evie and Logan are perfect for each other.  Oh, Logan's dirty mouth... I LOVED it! He is alpha male to the max, but he has a great balance to him. He isn't overbearing, and he let's Evie have her own life and friends. Evie is sweet. She does some sexual things with Logan that she has never experienced before. The author writes it as such that you feel her first time experience. All in all, this is a hot, steamy, explosive story you don't want to miss.

“Would you like a taste?” Tara asked him. What did that mean? Then her breath was warm on my neck. “I'm going to touch you now.” I jumped when her fingers dragged across the skin of my stomach. Lower, and lower. Was she going to–? Soft, delicate fingers stroked me. I tried to jerk away, but the straps kept me in place. I'd never fooled around with another woman. I could appreciate the beauty of the female body, but I never had any desire to explore anything outside of my own. I liked good, ole-fashioned sex, and knew I still had a lot to learn there. Adding women into the mix seemed overwhelming It didn't matter. Her fingers were stirring my folds where I was shamefully wet, and the slightest of moans slipped out before I could choke it back. She drew her hand away from in between my legs, and there was a noise I couldn't place, like a kiss. No, I figured it out. He was sucking on her fingers. “Does she taste good?” Tara asked. Heat poured through my body. “I'd like to drink straight from the tap,” he said. Oh god. Oh my god. “There's a fee for that, but I'll waive it if we reach a deal.” I assumed that was acceptable to him because Tara again leaned over me and whispered in my ear. “Slide down near the edge of the table, and enjoy.” She sounded envious. I did as asked, my trembling body gliding over the leather. When I was down far enough and my feet dangled awkwardly over the side, Tara's warm hand closed around an ankle and lifted it, setting my foot on the flat surface of the tabletop so my toes curled over the edge. She guided the other ankle so I was laid out before him, my knees bent up in the air. Sliding down had also forced my arms to be bent up by my head. The pads of his fingers were cold when they touched the inside of my knee and gently urged it to the side, opening me to him. My bottom lip quivered. No, my whole body quivered. The fingers dragged across the inside of my thigh until they reached the hollow where my legs joined my body. I wanted him to say something. I wanted him to— “Fuck,” he said in a low, deep voice when his finger brushed over me where only a few men, and now Tara, had touched me, making me shudder. “You're so wet.” His touch was gone and replaced by warm air as his mouth hovered over my sensitive flesh. He kissed the hollow there, then just above my slit, then the inside of my thigh on the other side. Teasing me. Delicious anticipation grew and strangled my breath. I bucked hard on the table when his tongue grazed me. One of his large, cold hands clamped down on a hip to hold me in place. The sensation wasn't like anything I'd felt before. The blindfold focused everything on the pleasure that was spreading outward through my body from his indecent kiss. He licked me again, starting at the bottom of my entrance and all the way up to my clit. “Oh my god,” I said out loud, and then went wooden. I wasn't supposed to speak until spoken to, according to the contract. “You like that?” He didn't wait for me to answer, he just did it again. And again. The beginning of an orgasm developed off in the distance and then was right upon me when he eased a finger where I was soaking wet. “She’s yours for twenty thousand,” Tara said.

Like most authors, listening to music while writing is an absolute must for me. Sometimes I listen to the same song on repeat when I work on a specific scene because either the lyrics match the emotion I’m trying to get on the page, (like “Strange & Beautiful”) or the general mood of the song has a great atmosphere. (“Paradise Circus”) It’s important to note this has side effects. One of the bigger, ahem, “set pieces” was written to Gotye’s “Heart’s A Mess” and now I can’t listen to it without getting horribly turned on. I have a complete Pavlovian response, which is all sorts of awkward when it comes on Pandora while I’m at the office. J Anyway, here is the somewhat eclectic, sexy mix of music I had playing endlessly on my laptop into the wee hours of the night while I drafted “Three Simple Rules.” Hope you enjoy!

Author Casting
Casting isn’t easy for me. Sometimes I have a character or two that I know immediately going in, but most of the time when writing I picture them as real people who don’t look like celebrities. But if I got to cast my book, here’s who I’d love to see in my super sexy “Three Simple Rules,” complete with character bios.
Evelyn “Evie” Russell
-A few years out of college and a graphic designer, who’s broke and desperate to succeed at her career.
Logan Stone
-Evie’s abrasive, marathon-running boss, who demands perfection from his employees.
Payton McCreary
-Evie’s best friend and a professional escort, who doesn’t give a fuck what other people think.
Blake Haluson
-Evie’s college friend that she’s not-so-secretly been in love with, who isn’t single.

Nikki Sloane fell into graphic design after her careers as a waitress, a screenwriter, and a ballroom dance instructor fell through. For eight years she worked for a design firm in that extremely tall, black, and tiered building in Chicago that went through an unfortunate name change during her time there. Now she lives in Kentucky and manages a team of graphic artists. She is married and has two sons, writes both romantic suspense and dirty books, and couldn’t be any happier. Blog Tour: Fractured by Leanne Pearson

For twenty three year old Katrina Smith, the events of one day irrevocably changed her life.

Life in Christchurch, New Zealand, couldn't have been better. She was in love with a wonderful man, had a job she enjoyed, and had her life mapped out before her...

What dawned as a typical summer’s day, changed into a day of devastation and overwhelming loss. An insidious danger lay beneath the benign land surface, seismic tension, like a ticking time-bomb, was counting down to a catastrophe. And Kate and her boyfriend, Daniel, were in its path. It took mere seconds for the world to be ripped out from under her. Suddenly, Kate was deluged by a vortex of Post Traumatic Stress, guilt and crippling anguish.

Dominic Dell’Antonio, an American marine working in New Zealand, was a man hiding from his own demons which lurked behind depth-less blue eyes that read so much, yet yielded so little. He kept himself aloof and isolated. Nightmares regularly plagued him.

As Kate slipped under a suffocating wave of heartache, she blocks out the world behind self imposed walls, drowning in the torrents of grief. Quiet, yet commanding, Dominic connects with Kate on some inexplicably deeper level. He wants to protect her. He wants to make her his.

Two damaged and guarded souls drawn together through tragic circumstances. Two lonely hearts drawn to one another to find comfort.

Fractured is a story of two broken people who help each other heal and become whole. Kate lives through a tragic event that caused her to lose her boyfriend. This event leads her down a path of flashbacks, depression, and alcohol. Dominic is a war veteran who has walked a similar path and understands what Kate is going through. Though Dom manages to go through life, cutting off thoughts and emotions regarding his time in the war, but at times they surface.

I really enjoyed Dom. He is a strong character and is just right for Kate. He instantly has a connection to her and is fiercely protective and possessive. However, he doesn't smother her. He is patient with her and lets her heal. Kate is also a strong character. Yes, at times she seems weak, but she has to find her own inner strength while relying on Dom. I really enjoyed her journey.

This story isn't sunshine and rainbows. It is about life and how even though sometimes you wish you could just pause it or rewind, but time keeps pressing forward. The characters had to find a way to cope and move on in spite of what they wanted to do. Fractured is a debut novel for author, Leanne Pearson. It is a good first novel. This author shows a lot of promise. She delivered a well thought out story and well developed characters. She is definitely an author I'll be watching out for.

Leanne Pearson grew up in Durban, South Africa. She later immigrated to New Zealand, where she now lives with her husband, and two children. During her down time, if she's not reading, she can be found relaxing outside, sipping on an apple cider, soaking up the sights and sounds of rural New Zealand. Leanne has had a few feature articles published in the newspaper over the years and has had a flair for creative writing from a very young age.

Blog Tour: Intercepting Love by L.P. Dover

Both have what she wants … but only one has what she needs.
Working with professional athletes and helping them recover from their injuries has always been Kate Townsend’s dream, but after an accident left her scarred and heartbroken years ago she refuses to let what happened in her past happen again. Staying focused is the key, as well as not letting her feelings interfere with her job … no matter the circumstances. All of that is easier said than done when not only one, but two men crave her healing touch, igniting every single desire she’s denied herself for so long.
Cooper Davis, NFL’s star quarterback and most eligible bachelor, packs up and leaves his home to move across the states to the East Coast after an injury results in the embarrassing trade to another team. Bitter from the pain, he deals with his problems through drugs and alcohol—almost ruining his football career—until he meets the one woman who makes him want to feel; the same woman who refuses to give up on him no matter how many times he screws up. He has to have her, and he’s not going to stop until he makes her his. Especially, now that someone else threatens to take her away.
Motocross champion and local bad boy Luke Collins never takes no for an answer. For the past four months he’s used his charms to get what he wants, and now he’s so close to getting the girl of his dreams … if she’ll give in just once. One time is all he needs, and he’s never been known to fail, but he’s also never had to fight for a woman’s affections. Only one man will win their way into Kate’s heart, but which one will intercept the other and take what they want? Which one will she choose?

If you have been following along with the series, then you are familiar with Cooper. You do not have to have read the previous books in this series. It can be read as a standalone. However, I really like how the author ties in the different characters and shows their connections to one another. If you’ll remember in book 3, Meant for Me, Cooper lost, who he thought, was the love of this life, Claire. After she chose Mason instead of him, we find out that he goes on a downward spiral.

Cooper was a star quarterback. Right after his break-up, he injures his shoulder and just goes way downhill, and he soon finds himself addicted to drugs. It seems that his career is over until he is picked up by a team clear across the country on the East Coast. There he meets Kate. She is a trainer for the team and a no nonsense kind of girl. However, she has her own scars and emotional battles. It also looks like Cooper might not get the girl again. It seems like no matter how right these two are for each other, her brother's best friend, Luke is always there. He also wants Kate.

These two were a great fit. Where one is weak, the other lifts them up and is their strength. I’ve really liked all the characters in this series, but Cooper and Kate are definitely my favorites. They worked through their issues and stood by each other. Of course, there were really tough times, but they didn’t let that deter them. They have a deep love that is rooted in friendship and respect for each other.

There is also an element of suspense thrown in. Someone seems to be stalking at first Kate, but then it may be Cooper. He pulls calls in favors from connections he has to help figure out who the culprit is. All in all, AGAIN, the author delivers a solid story. I just can’t get enough of this series, and lucky for me, there is another one coming soon, Catching Summer. This is Evan’s story, a character we are introduced to in this book. I can’t wait!

“You don’t have to worry about him making the moves on me, Luke. He said he wouldn’t touch me unless I asked him to. I think we’re both safe.”
Placing his hands against the wall, Luke trapped me in and murmured in my ear, “Hmm … he’s better than I thought. You know he’s just playing games with you, right?”
“Everyone plays games in their own way, Luke. Even you do, but it’s not going to change anything,” I told him.
“Good,” he murmured huskily. “Although, I’d have to say that’s where me and him differ.” He trailed his finger down my cheek and past my neck to my collarbone. “I’d be afraid you would never ask me. That’s why I have to take what I want until you tell me no.”
