Caston Black has it
all, according to the outside world. The owner of the best-selling gentlemen’s
magazine, Black Hollywood, has good looks, fame, fortune, and a reputation that
precedes him. He can have any woman he wants, as long as he doesn’t keep them.
Caston sets his sights on Sabrina for his next Hollywood Sweetheart. Little
does he know he will find the woman to share his life, the one he is meant to
keep forever.
Sabrina Bennett has been in a mentally and physically abusive relationship that has destroyed the beautiful, confident dancer who arrived at college three years ago. She thinks the only good thing left in her life is her abusive boyfriend. Keeping her boyfriend happy is her number one priority, no matter how impossible. She’s been broken and molded into a frightened, unsure girl desperate to be worthy of love.
Meeting by chance one evening, sparks fly
between Caston and Sabrina. Neither expected the feelings they bring out in
each other. Trying to have a normal relationship in their abnormal world is
almost impossible, happiness is a new way of life for the lovers. They want to
move forward, but the past won’t let go.
Can Caston help Sabrina heal from her past
abuse? Can Sabrina show Caston he is as strong as he appears to be? When is the
price of love too much? What do you do when the biggest threat to the person
you love is you?
I am not really sure where to start with this one. There were things I loved about this book, and then there were things that were hard for me to believe. It’s the story of Caston Black, the owner of a gentleman’s magazine, and Sabrina Bennett, a college student that does not have the best past when it comes to relationships. Caston wants Sabrina to be in his magazine when he first meets her, and Sabrina needs someone to rescue her from her disaster of a relationship that she is in.
Sabrina is hard to pin down. She is so many different things that are so contradicting. When we meet Sabrina I think we only meet a shell of who she really is. We meet her at a very low point, when her abusive relationship has turned her into someone completely different. She definitely changes throughout the story and extremely quickly at that. Caston brings out a completely different side of her that was very surprising for someone who had been in such a battered relationship.
Caston is your alpha male personified. He is Sabrina’s knight in shining armor. He is gorgeous, rich, demanding, and a dominate. Caston cares deeply and falls very quickly for Sabrina, but his life is not as easy as it may seem. He has had a very different childhood than most, and it turned him into the man he is. His parents play a big role in who he is and also in this story making for some interesting things happening. Caston is full of secrets that we finally learn throughout the story.
Have I Told You definitely brings the heat!! There is no shortage of hot sex in this book! Caston is every bit the sexual deviant you would expect an owner of a gentleman’s magazine to be, and he and Sabrina together do not disappoint. At times there was almost too much going on for my little brain to comprehend, but regardless it was definitely HOT!
This book is an instant love thing for the most part, and in some ways it worked and in others it did not. While I understand that Caston has had his eye on Sabrina from afar for a while and Sabrina is wanting to be loved so desperately, it still is just hard to accept how fully they immediately fall for each other. They are both so quick to embrace this journey into love that is completely different and unknown for both of them, and it just all happens in such a short span of time.
While there were things about this book I did not like and things that were just hard for me to wrap my mind around, I still could not put it down. I always had to know what was going to happen next and F.L. Jacob left me wondering the same thing still! What is next for Caston and Sabrina??
This is F.L. Jacobs debut novel and it is a good start to
her career. This book had me unable to put it down and shaking my head all at
the same time. Let me explain.
Brianna is a ballerina, tall, gorgeous and talented. Caston
is a billionaire, Hugh Heffner like character except hot and young. He owns a
gentleman’s magazine and an “adult” club. Caston first sees Brianna on stage
and he is instantly drawn to her but more of a subject for his magazine. He
admires her from a far and keeps an eye on her but never introduces himself to
her until one night at a frat party.
Brianna has a totally horrific boyfriend who likes to abuse
her in various ways. That night at the frat house Caston was there and stepped
in and saved Brianna from dirt bags wrath. Now Caston is mid twenties and
totally should not have been at a frat party but since he saved Brianna, we let
this fact pass.
From there Brianna and Caston’s relationship went from 0 to
100 in 2.2 seconds. She moved into his mansion, he bought her an iPad and they
were burning up the sheets. And let me tell you did they ever. Ms Jacobs KNOWS
how to write a hot sex scene and did so often. We aren’t talking vanilla sex
here either. They had some serious wild outings. As much as I love hot sex
scenes, some of them I shook my head at. I felt that with Brianna’s abusive
recent past that certain acts were pushing the limits and the reactions were
not normal.
There was some serious “insta-love” in the book. I almost
wanted to get these two on a therapist’s couch and peek inside their heads. Brianna
so desperately wanted love and kindness and Caston wanted to feel connected and
needed. They fulfilled these needs for each other. Caston was so kind and
caring and loving towards her. He really was swoon worthy.
When all was said and done, I could not stop reading this
book. I swear I was reading at stop lights and sitting in traffic. Shh don’t
tell. I will definitely be picking up book 2 and see what is next for this
couple.
I am a mommy of two, wife to an amazing man,
and full time employee. Life is crazy and my love for reading had fizzled over
the years but thanks to a wonderful group of ladies that I met last year I
started reading again. Their love for books turned me on to many great writers
who I would have never discovered if I hadn't started reading again!
I started writing for them. They brought out my
love for writing that I haven’t seen in years. Starting this process was
tedious and nerve wrecking, but my lovely ladies and my fabulous husband have
inspired me to take my love for writing to the next step.
