Mia
Murphy may be married to the man of her dreams. But the man in her dreams is
the one that got away—her high school crush.
Mia’s
stuck in a rut, just like every other stay-at-home mom, and the only thing
saving her from her monotonous routine is her perfect husband, Declan. He’s
gorgeous, he adores her, and the man stole her heart with his sexy singing
voice. Mia feels like the luckiest girl in the world, until she discovers that
Mr. Perfect is not Mr. Faithful. Mia is devastated. Everything she once
believed about Declan and their marriage is now covered in a big cloud of doubt
and regret. On impulse, she kicks the cheating bastard out, pushing them into a
separation that could mean the end of the picture-perfect couple.
But
when Mia receives an invitation to her high school reunion, she finds herself
abandoning the present for the oh-so alluring pull of the past. Although her
heart still belongs to her husband, inescapable thoughts of her crush, Noah,
resurface. And ten years later, Noah isn’t afraid to make his move. When the
build-up of fantasies and ‘what ifs' comes to a head, sparks fly and it’s Mia’s
turn to question if her marriage is everything she wants out of life. Searching
for answers, Mia dives head first into dating Noah, falling further away from
her husband and closer to her old flame.
But
Declan’s not giving up so easily. Mia is his one and only and he’s not about to
let another man win her heart.
The book opens up with Mia flashing back to her high school
days when she was lusting over Noah, the hot jock that she was head over heels
for but he didn’t pay her any attention. Fast forward to adulthood and Mia found the man of her dreams, Declan whom she met is college. However, she has
been dreaming about Noah for years. And I am talking the good kind of dreams if
you know what I mean.
The author takes us from the present to the past in
alternating chapters. We get a glimpse of her puppy love for Noah and his
rejection and then her life as a young mother and wife.
“If I ever have a
daughter, I will be sure she knows that no guy, no matter how hot, is worth
making her second guess herself, making her consume her day around his every
move.”
Mia heads off to college and meets Declan. They had an
instant connection right from the first dreamy date. Declan wooed her and they date all through
college. He was perfect and they are perfect together.
“I know you’re going
to be part of my future and I’m ready to make love to you because I love you.
I’m in love with you, Mia and I know we are young, but I’m pretty sure I want
you to be my first and my last.”
They rush and got married young but they loved each other
and all was well in their world. They have a two unplanned children through
their 4 year marriage. Declan travels quite a bit with work, coupled with the
duties of having 2 young children, their marriage weakens. This is a life that
many women can totally relate to. Mia is such a real character. All her
thoughts and feelings were so real. I can see anyone of my friends having these same feelings and actions.
One night, Declan slips and makes a huge mistake that rocks
the couples’ marriage. All the doubts
they had pushed away over the years come bubbling to the surface and the two
take a break.
In walks the dreamy Noah at the high school reunion and all
those school girl crush feelings come rushing back to Mia. Add in the smoking
hot sexy dreams she has had and the two flirt all night. Noah always thought
she was beautiful and now thinks this is his second chance.
Mia decides to give this second chance with Noah a shot. I
won’t tell you any more because I don’t want to ruin the ending of the book.
The author kept us on the line till the last page. The epilogue was sweet as
well.
The flipping back and forth to me got frustrating towards
the end. I was sooooo sucked into the present day that sometimes I just wanted
to move ahead. However, the past chapters were a good insight into the threesome’s
(get your head out of the gutter, it didn’t go there but that would have been
HOT) history and how they wound up where they were in the present.
This was a great love triangle book. The feelings every one
in this story had were true life feelings and situations. I think we all wonder about the hot jock we
had a crush on back in high school and what came of them. The author did great
job brings us into Mia’s world.

Andrews lives in New York where she is happily married to her high school
sweetheart. They have two beautiful daughters and a furry Yorkie son, Rocco. If
she isn’t listening to Mumford and Sons or busy being a Dance Mom, her nose is in
a book or her laptop. She’s a sucker for a happily ever after and believes her
characters are out there living one somewhere . . .
