“You’re not leaving… if you leave, I can’t help you. Just stay. We will have a press conference. Explain…” I jump in, cutting my mother off.

“There is nothing to explain… I didn’t do anything wrong.” My brow furrows at what she is trying to insinuate. She shrugs impassively. “Wow, you don’t even believe me.” I shake my head in disbelief.

I look to my father, who is too engrossed in his work to care what we’re discussing.

How can he just sit there ignoring us?

Her brow raises when she looks at him, then she shakes her head as though she’s thinking the same thing I am.

What did I ever do to make you want to pretend as though I don’t exist?

“I can promise you one thing… Princess.” Disdain drips from her lips when she says it.

I sit straight, my shoulders set back, to show I’m not so easily intimidated by her anymore. Although my stomach knots, telling me otherwise. “If you leave this house again, it will be your last time.” Her head tips to the side to study me. “Or… maybe it won’t…” she muses.

It will.

“What incentive do I have to stay?” My lips pucker and curl up with indignation.

There’s nothing she can do once I’m gone this time.

“I would watch your tone.” Her voice drops, making the warning into a threat, before it perks back up. “And don’t make that face, this was your father’s idea.” She nods to him. “Isn’t that right, Dear?” Her teeth clench together as a tight smile forms on her lips.

“Yes, she’s right.” He looks up at me for a split second, a strange but all too familiar look in his eyes, then goes back to working.

The look, if you’re wondering, is what normal people wear when they are guilty of something. But a man who has no care or concern for anyone but himself couldn’t possibly have anything to be guilty of. Unless in some strange twist of events he is deciding to care after years of overlooking me.

That’s highly unlikely though.

Twelve…

I was twelve when he no longer saw me, when he no longer laughed with me, and when I was left to be raised properly… like her… a woman I could never be like.

His wife and my mother…

Blog Tour Review: Wrapped in Shadows by Lisa Eugene

One night of shadows. One night of bliss. One night of evil.

Katherine Regina Vandercamp has everything. Wealth. Beauty. Social standing. She’s the heiress to the Vandercamp fortune and engaged to the man of her dreams. One night it all shatters…

Finding her fiancé with another woman, she is distraught and makes a reckless decision to go with a friend to a sex club. Needing total anonymity, she has sex with a stranger in a room of total darkness, a sensuous cocoon of silky shadows. She has no idea who this man is or what he looks like. But it is in the shadows she finds solace. In the shadows she finds bliss.

She can’t forget this stranger’s touch, his taste, his scent. He infiltrates her dreams and holds her thoughts and body captive. But had she made a false assumption about her fiancé? Had he really been unfaithful? She regrets her hasty actions and is tormented by guilt. She is determined to marry the man she loves and forget her stranger.

Sinister events unfolded at the sex club. There was a gruesome murder and her stranger has been charged with the crime. Katie knows he’s innocent because she was with him at the time of the murder. She is shocked to find that he’s not a stranger after all. Will she reveal her horrible secret? Will she besmirch the Vandercamp name? Will she risk losing the man who has her heart to save the man who’s touched her soul?
Will coming forward put her in danger? Her life is in turmoil. All because of that one night.

A night that changed everything…

Katherine Vandercamp has a cheating fiancé and is devastated. What does a girl do when that happens to a woman in the fiction world, why she goes to a sex club with her best friend. Unfortunately for me, I have read this opening chapter scenario a few times in the past. It was a bit of a turn off but I pushed through and I was glad that I did. The book held other great qualities that I am growing to love.
So Katherine goes to the sex club and since she is high society and runs a charity, she wants to keep her identity a secret. She chooses a room where there are no lights on when you meet with a partner. The sex club is different than a BDSM club but in this book it was not detailed well with the rules and how it worked but I suppose it wasn’t a big deal in the end.
In the darkness, Katie meets Luke and they have down right panty melting sex. However, they have no idea who the other is.  Afterwards, they parted ways to never see each other again.  Except their paths do meet again and the connection is as strong as the original night.

“When I laughed with her, I felt it in my heart, when I kissed her, I felt it in my soul, and the absolute rightness of it was simply stunning.” ~~ Luke

As I mentioned, this book had a quality that I am starting to see more of and I love it. This book had a mystery weaved in through the romance. On the night Katie and Luke had sex at the club, there was a murder. And then a few other dead bodies showed up as well. So while we fall in love with characters and they fall in love, we get try and figure out who done it! So great!

I recommend this book if you also love to good little mystery with your romance!

Lisa Eugene began writing as a way to mentally escape from the hectic medical world where she has been a practicing nurse for over twenty years. After publishing her first novel, STRICTLY BUSINESS, she quickly learned that readers couldn't get enough of the world she created and now she lives out her wildest fantasies by writing steamy romantic suspense for her fan-favorite Washington Memorial Hospital series.

When she's not plotting her next dangerous, fast-paced, sexy adventure, you can find her juggling a full time job, playing soccer mom, or curled up reading a good romance.

Release Day Blitz: Carnage #2 Story of Me by Lesley Jones

When your world, your life and all of your hopes and dreams for the future are ripped out from under you, how do you go on?
Death without dying is not only the most painful kind of death, it's also the most painful kind of life and I don't know if I'm strong enough to live it.
I spend my lonely days and nights trying to make sense of what my life has become. Do I have the strength to move forward into the light, or should I just let the darkness take me?

I'm Georgia Rae Layton McCarthy and this is the story of me, just me.I'm no longer a part of an us, it's just me. Alone. By myself.

I was born and raised in a small working class town in Essex, just outside of East London. I am married with three sons and in 2006 we all moved to the other side of the world, settling on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula, about 50K outside of Melbourne Australia. It's a whole new way of life for us down here, we are so lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world.
I am currently a stay at home mum but in the past I have worked at Marks & Spencer, as a classroom assistant/teachers aid and have run my business.
As well as writing, I love to read and have been known to get through four or five books a week. My other interests are watching my boys play football...The round ball version.  I am happy to admit to being an addict of social media and I owe a lot to my Facebook and Twitter family in promoting my work. I am also rather partial to a glass... or bottle of wine, a nicely chilled Marlborough Sav Blanc being my favorite. Being a born and raised Essex girl, I will happily admit to be being a big fan of spray tans, Shellac and am regularly, waxed, tinted and sculpted, although I am more likely to be found in thongs/flipflops than a pair of white stilettos these days.

Mine to Steal by T.K. Rapp Blog Tour

In life and business, Trey Miller has always been the good guy. Nothing wrong with that, since it’s gotten him everywhere he has needed to be. His startup company is a success and growing so much that he is gaining the attention of larger corporations.

By all accounts, Trey has it all, but the one place he fails is love.

He thought he might have had something with Emogen Kane, but she was taken before he even had a chance. Now, he hides behind work, unwilling to take any risks in the love department.

When Trey finds himself vying for a huge account against Faith Young, he knows he’s going to have to play it tough to win. Faith is smart, attractive and rumor has it, she lands every account she goes after.

When Faith is thrown into his path at every turn, Trey starts to feel that it is more than a coincidence. Knowing that Faith has a boyfriend douses the flame that he was starting to feel, until he realizes that the guy might not at all be what he seems.

Trey let go once, but he’s determined to win it all this time. Does he have it in him to roll up his sleeves and get dirty? And if he does, will he finally end up with the girl?

I don't think that I have read a book in a long time that I actually felt bad for the male lead in the story, but in this book I couldn't help it.  I loved Trey in the first book in the series Mine to Lose. Even though I was not suppose to want Try and Emogen together in that book, I did, and in the end when she went back to her old boyfriend Ryan I was heartbroken for him.  Although I knew that he would have his HEA, although I didn't realize what a roller coaster ride it was going to be.

I was not sure if I was going to like Faith at first.  She seemed kinda wishy washy and back a forth with her boyfriend.  At one point she uses him to push Trey away and the next she is telling us that her boyfriend actually lives in Chicago and that they have an open relationship.  I have to say though by the end of the book I was pretty much in love with her and hoping for the best for this happy couple.

The chemistry between these 2 is excellent.  We find out in the book that Trey and Faith actually have a history together.  They grew up in the same town and Faith had a school girl crush on Trey.  When Trey's brother plays a cruel trick on her, she is pretty much thrown threw a tailspin to hate the brothers.   I love some of the interaction with Trey and his brother and Faith and Trey's brother.  It is pretty funny and at times brought a much needed form of laughter to balance out the craziness of the book.

There is plenty of drama and laughs in this book to make it a fun read.

We make visual contact with each other and neither of us says a word.

I’ve never played paintball before, but these few short minutes are the most fun I’ve had in a while. I watch Faith as she, with pinpoint precision, peeks from behind the tree and hits a target that is running past. Poor bastard never saw her. I give her a thumbs up and peek out from behind my spot and shoot two rounds, hitting a guy who was about to shoot one of my teammates.

I nod to Faith and mouth, “How many?”

She shrugs and lifts her head up, I assume she’s doing a mental tally and when she shows me a count of eight, I smile. Sixteen of us came in, and we’ve shot two of our opponents. She starts laughing and points, waving me over. I peek around the wall and when I see the coast is clear, I sling my gun over my shoulder and make run for it. She shoots three times, and I hear another guy groan somewhere behind me, but I don’t bother to check where the noise came from.

I dive at the last moment and trip over a branch that sticks out of the ground and tumble toward Faith. Before I land, possibly hurting her, I try to push away throwing myself onto my back to avoid a collision. Somehow she ends up on top of me and covers my mouth with her hand. She raises a finger up to silence me and points somewhere past me.

I’m not sure what her plan is, but I’ll let her stay where she is for as long as she wants. Faith turns to check both sides and whispers, “Make that five more left.”

“What now?” I ask before she drops her face to my neck.

She muffles a whisper, “Someone’s behind us. Be. Still.”

She takes a sip of her drink and smiles. “Does she love you or hate you?”

“I think it probably depends on the day.”

Mine to Lose (Mine to Love #1) – Released Jan 2014

What happens when the fairy tale ends before it even begins?

Three years, two graduations, an engagement and a move to another, Emogen and Ryan are more in love than ever. He’s the one man she never expected to have and the only man she’s determined to keep. He’s her forever, and there’s nothing she wouldn’t do for him.

Almost, that is

.

Ryan announces that he’s accepted a job offer that requires yet another move. Angry he didn’t discuss his decision with her first, Emogen refuses to pack up and follow. She has a career, too, and she’s not ready to give it up.

Although determined to make the long distance thing work, their lives and careers begin to take a toll on the relationship, leaving them to wonder if they’re doing the right thing.

Sometimes love isn’t enough.

When you lose the one thing you are certain of, will you fight to get it back? Or will you let it go?

Being There – Released July 2013

When Cass Howard was young, she never dreamed she would have the perfect job, living in New York, with an amazing man by her side.

That’s a good thing…because none of that ever happened.

Drew Alexander was the one person who knew Cass better than almost anyone, and the friendship that developed in high school carried them to college. Despite the distance, their bond grew stronger, revealing to each of them what they meant to each other. A series of fleeting moments and a string of failed relationships helped them realize that what they really wanted, what they needed, was each other.

But that was five years ago, and sometimes things just don’t work out.

Now twenty-five, Cass finds herself living in Houston, working at a small publishing house as an editor. By most accounts, she appears happy, however she has managed to avoid a true relationship, opting to channel all of her energy on work, despite protests from her best friend.

The only thing that can drag her away is the annual girls’ weekend, which comes at the best possible time, because Cass has just learned life-altering news. With the most recent blow to her life looming overhead, will the getaway with her closest friends change her outlook on life? Or will her inability to put the past behind her stifle any chance she has of moving on? Will she ever be able to open up and let those who love her be there for her?

What inspired you to begin writing? Have you always wanted to be a writer?

I was a reader as a kid, but by the time I got to high school, I hated it - because I had to do it all the time. I started reading again a few years ago and fell in love with Slammed by Colleen Hoover. Something about that story just got me. So that's what got me inspired.

I was always journaling and my mind was always working. Funny you ask this, because I was just telling my mom that I remember daydreaming fantastical romances, how they played out, the makeup and breakup of it all. I never wrote them down. It wasn't until about 9 years ago, I started writing short stories and poems, but nothing came of them. In fact, I still have the file, but since it was password protected, I can't access them. LOL! I guess that's a sign they were no good. :-p

_______

Who is your favorite character you’ve ever written, and why?

OH DAMN!! Okay, let me think!

The obvious answer for me is Cass, because she is my first. So much of her personality and inner struggles with who she is, I've been there.

Then there's Jett - okay, clearly I'm not a dude, but I can be obnoxious and annoying like that. When I was growing up, I loved to make others uncomfortable by talking about sex and saying inappropriate things. I LOVE writing Jett, because he's fun! People want Jett's story, and I want to write it. I KNOW it. But I'm so worried about not doing him justice.

_______

If you HAD to choose between your male characters, which would you choose?

I love all of them! (Except Brad!) But if I HAD to pick, I'm going to say Drew. He's strong, says what he wants and wears his heart on his sleeve. There was something about him that was imperfectly perfect. He just makes me smile.

_______

What’s on the horizon for T.K. Rapp?

LOTS!! LoL! I have 4 other stories in my head, but I can't walk and chew gum at the same time. So for now, I'm working on an untitled YA story inspired by my girls. They want so badly to read my books, so this one is for the older - high school - versions of them. I'm really excited about this one! I also have 3 signings coming up this year, so maybe I'll get to meet some people!

_______

Rapid questions –

Favorite musician?
The Avett Brothers or Mumford & Sons.

Favorite movie? SHIT! Um! Off the top of my head "Dazed & Confused."

Favorite book? Toss up! "Slammed" or "In the Band"

Favorite quote? "Laugh at what you did today, it's all been done before." Tripping Daisy! (I love them!!)

Favorite color? Teal

T.K. Rapp is a Texas girl born and raised. She earned a B.A. in Journalism from Texas A&M and it was there that she met the love of her life. He had a contract with the U.S. Navy that would take them across both coasts, and ultimately land them back home in Texas.

Upon finally settling in Texas, T.K. worked as a graphic designer and photographer for the family business that her mom started years earlier. She was able to infuse her creativity and passion, into something she enjoyed, but something was still missing. There was a voice in the back of her head that told her to write, so write, she did. And, somewhere on an external hard drive, are several stories she started and never finished.

Now at home, raising her two daughters, T.K. has more time to do the things she loves, which includes photography and writing. When she’s not doing one of those, she can be found with her family, which keeps her busy. She enjoys watching her kids in their various sporting activities (i.e. doing the soccer mom thing), having Sunday breakfast at her parent’s house, singing out loud and out of key or dancing like a fool. She loves raunchy humor, gossip blogs and a good book.
