Baking and Babies by Tara Sivec

"I’m pregnant."

Molly Gilmore had a good life before she uttered those two stupid words. While preparing to graduate from culinary school and building up the courage to make a move on her hot, sugar-cookie-smelling pastry instructor Marco, she can't wait to finally have the GREAT life she’s always dreamed about, instead of just the good one she’s been living.

Always known as the quiet ninja, she fully intends to stay hidden in the shadows with her nut-job family, so they have no chance to embarrass her around the man she's crushed on for two years. Unfortunately, her family has other plans. When they yank her straight out of her comfort zone, she finds herself starring in the craziest train wreck she's ever witnessed.

Molly ultimately gets a more exciting life that doesn't revolve around school, but she's pretty sure the man of her dreams won't be sticking around long after her family gets ahold of him. There aren't too many guys who can handle smelling like pee, having the whole world know how he masturbates, and being forced to eat an entire bag of dicks.

Join the Chocolate Lovers and Chocoholics gang for one final story about love, baked goods, making poor life choices, and remembering how important family is—even if they drive you insane.

Mostly because it's illegal to kill them.

It's over. This series is really over. F U Tom Brady! This series is my all time favorite series EVER. I love each and every character as if they were real people. The Chocolate Lovers series is what made me fall in love with Tara. I'm talking full on fan girl obsessed. I want her to be my best friend. Tara will you be my best friend? If you haven't read the Chocolate Lovers series or any of the previous Chocoholics books in this series, what the hell is wrong with you? Don't read Baking and Babies until you have read the rest of the books in each series. While you technically could, you won't be able to savor it as much and truly appreciate it for all it's glory.

Baking and Babies is the story of Molly Gilmore aka the quiet ninja. I couldn't wait for her book. I loved her in each of the previous Chocoholics books and I knew this book would be just as fabulous. Molly is graduating Culinary school and has the hots for her super hot instructor. I can't blame her, Marco is HOT. Days before she graduates she finds herself in a predicament. Let's just say that Molly is the best sister ever. The lengths that Molly goes to to help her sister was both awesome and hilarious.

Marco oh Marco why can't you be a real person? You're hot, feisty, and can cook. I couldn't ask for a better man. Marco was the perfect addition to this series. He fits in perfectly and you would think he had been a part of the family from the beginning.

I loved watching the relationship of Molly and Marco develop. Their chemistry is off the charts. Their relationship had the perfect mixture of hotness and hilarious moments. This was the book that I couldn't read fast enough yet I didn't want to read fast because I wasn't ready for it to be over.

Baking and Babies will give you everything you expect out of a Tara Sivec book. I laughed many times. It was the laugh out loud moments that everyone loves from Tara. She did a fabulous job of wrapping this series up and ending it perfectly. Be prepared to cry. The epilogue was the best I have ever read. The quotes brought me back to the beginning and through to the end. Saying goodbye was hard. REALLY hard. I cried while I read and I cried after I finished it. It's like I am saying goodbye to real people. People that I have fallen in love with over the years. I'm not ready for it to be over but Tara has threatened to cut a bitch if they ask for more so I guess I have to be. Thank you Tara for writing books that everyone can relate to. For saying everything that everyone wants to say but can't. For giving us MANY laugh out loud moments throughout both series. These books will always be at the very top of my favorites list.

THE SCIONLESS HOUSE (The Scion Legacy, #.5)

Twelve Houses. Twelve vampire lines. We ruled from the shadows, and manipulated the world, and when humans came too close to destruction, we intervened. Every House has a Scion. A fragile, easily broken human that stood shoulder to shoulder with the house Princes and Princesses. Except for ours. The Ravens, House Cantelie. We've been without a Scion for almost fifteen years. But that will change...and her life will be mine to protect.

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000446_00073]THE BLOOD SCION Synopsis (The Scion Legacy, #1) I was just a reporter, trying to stay ahead of my student loans. I knew the rules, and I followed them. I thought I knew how the world worked—humans lived their petty little lives in the safety of the sun. We loved and fought and—when the sun sank—we scurried behind our walls and lived in fear. That is when the monsters came out to play. And even in the safety of the sun, we knew who ruled us. The Houses. And their Scions. Everyone knows the great Houses and their Scions—they are feared and loved and hated and envied. They are the gods who walk the shadows and rule all of our lives. They are salvation and death. And somehow, I am one of them.

Ethan Davenport is already Boston’s most eligible bachelor, in his second season with the Boston Renegades and has eyes for the girl behind the visitors’ dugout who has been staring at him for a year.
That girl is Daisy Robinson, a journalism student at the University of Boston, a die-hard Renegades fan and determined to give Ethan a run for his money. He knows in order to have a chance with her, he needs to change his ways but he may just need her to wait until the off-season.
But with new found love comes challenges and Ethan and Daisy have to deal with his crazy schedule, school finals and his presence on her campus for some much needed media training. For Ethan nothing can come between him and Daisy, until a secret that she’s been keeping threatens to destroy them both.

“Someone’s dogging ya,” Kidd says as he nods behind me. I can hear my name being called, but I don’t want to look because he’s likely up to something. The fact that my name is being called means nothing, since the kids are always trying to get us to sign things, give them a bat during the game or even look at them. It was a thrill when it happened to me so I know what it’s like to get attention from your favorite player, let alone any player. “Just a fan, I’m assuming,” I say, shrugging him off and focusing on Mackenzie’s at bat. He shakes his head and starts laughing. “A super fan,” he says, nodding behind me again. “You might want to turn around.” “You might want to pay attention to the game. Mackenzie could hit a foul ball and smack you in the tallywacker.” “Jesus Davenport, just turn the hell around.” I roll my eyes and finally give in, but only halfheartedly. I look over my left shoulder and see no one calling me and over my right to find the same thing. “Don’t know what you’re talking about.” Kidd swings the bat a few times before he stops because Mackenzie has a hit and is now on first base. “Turn all the way around, Davenport. Stop being a bitch.” I do as he says and I’m met with a pair of green eyes that I have burnt into my memory. She’s sitting behind our dugout in the center seat. She stands and points to her shirt. The front of it says, “I’m sorry”. I can’t help the stupid ass grin that is plastered all over my face. I lean forward, resting my hands on the edge of the dugout. “Are you busy after the game?” “No,” Daisy says with a smile. “You are now,” I say, not caring that I’m probably jumping the gun and assuming she wants to see me. It’s not a guess; I know she does. “Stay right there and I’ll come get you when the game is over.” Before I know it, we’re on the Jumbo Tron with hearts all around our picture. She covers her face and I turn back to the game, only to turn around and wave my hat at the section she’s in. They roar with cheers and start chanting my name. We win, nine to one. I had a few more base hits and some RBI’s to add to our run count. Every Renegade player had at least one base hit. It’s odd when that happens, but we take it and run with it when it does. As soon as I enter the clubhouse the reporters are there. They call my name and instead of going to them, they come over to me and shove their microphones into my face as soon as I sit down. “Ethan, you made a pretty big display of affection today during the game. Do you care to tell us about your girlfriend?” “Yeah, sure,” I say, running my hand through my hair. “I’ve been in love with her for as long as I can remember. She means everything to me.” Suddenly their microphones are even more in my face. “What’s her name?” “Baseball!” I wish I had a camera at this exact moment so I can capture their expressions as they all deadpan at my answer. They’re stupid if they think I’m going to say anything about Daisy. We have a long road ahead of us and the last thing we need is the media hounding us. I do enough stupid shit that brings us plenty of attention. We don’t need any more. The reporters don’t like me much after that answer, not that I can blame them. Kidd punches me in the shoulder and winks at me.

Baseball and a Heidi McLaughlin book in one? YES PLEASE!  I’m a huge baseball fan so when Heidi announced she was writing a baseball book I was beyond excited.

Ethan Davenport is the third baseman for the Boston Renegades and is one of the hottest up and coming players.  He’s pretty into his career and hasn’t done much in the way of dating since him and his longtime girlfriend, Sarah, broke up.  It was mutual breakup and the two still get together when he’s in town.  This is perfect for Ethan until one day a college student who doesn’t miss a home game catches his eye.

Daisy Robinson is a student at the University of Boston and a major Renegades fan.   Daisy’s grandpa has season tickets right above the third base side dugout. Due to his health, Daisy’s grandpa cannot attend the games, so she makes sure she attends every game for the both of them.

Ethan gets Daisy's attention pretty quick.  I love that Daisy doesn’t fan girl all over Ethan once he puts it out there that he’s interested in her.  She treats him like a normal person and keeps him on his toes.  With Daisy in school and Ethan on the road a relationship won’t be easy.  There will be some ups and downs and some twists that will have your emotions going.

Third Base takes you through the baseball life.  The locker room scenes and the interaction between the players is great. The baseball blog in the story is kept true to what baseball fans are thinking and saying making the story more believable and engrossing.  I LOVE that Heidi made the lead female a huge baseball fan.  Being that I am one myself, this makes me cheesy smile.  If you aren’t familiar with baseball, don’t worry, by the end of the book you will know all about the game.  Heidi did a great job explaining the game so everyone will understand it.  Lastly, the secondary characters will have you wrapped up just as much as Ethan and Daisy.  I can’t wait until the next book in the series, I’m dying for Kidd’s book!

Surviving Ice by K.A. Tucker

Title: Surviving Ice (Burying Water Series, Book 4)
Author: K.A. Tucker

The USA TODAY bestselling author of the Ten Tiny Breaths series and Burying Water—which Kirkus Reviews called “a sexy, romantic, gangster-tinged page-turner”—returns with a new novel packed with romance, plot twists, and psychological suspense.

Ivy Lee, a talented tattoo artist who spent the early part of her twenties on the move, is looking for a place to call home. She thinks she might have finally found it working in her uncle’s tattoo shop in San Francisco. But all that changes when a robbery turns deadly, compelling her to pack up her things yet again.

When they need the best, they call him. That’s why Sebastian Riker is back in California, cleaning up the mess made after a tattoo shop owner with a penchant for blackmail got himself shot. But it’s impossible to get the answers he needs from a dead body, leaving him to look elsewhere. Namely, to the twenty-something-year-old niece who believes this was a random attack. Who needs to keep believing that until Sebastian finds what he’s searching for.

Ivy has one foot out of San Francisco when a chance encounter with a stranger stalls her departure. She’s always been drawn to intense men, so it’s no wonder that she now finds a reason to stay after all, quickly intoxicated by his dark smile, his intimidating strength, and his quiet control.

That is, until Ivy discovers that their encounter was no accident—and that their attraction could be her undoing.

I've said it before and I will say it again -- K.A. Tucker is incapable of writing a bad story. Her words captivate, annihilate, and exhilarate. I quickly became a fan of hers after reading Ten Tiny Breaths. Several years and countless books later, I have yet to read a novel penned by her that is nothing short of exceptional. Surviving Ice is the fourth and final book in her Burying Water Series. I was incredibly sad to see this series come to an end, but found that the series couldn't have ended with a more remarkable story than Surviving Ice. If you haven't read the previous books in the story, don't worry, each can be read as a stand alone, but I urge you to get your hands on all of them and discover their beauty.

Ivy is unlike any heroine Tucker has written before. It's hard to describe what exactly makes her so unique. I thought Kacey from Ten Tiny Breaths had attitude and snark, but Ivy definitely takes the crown. I loved her no nonsense attitude and (at times) abrasiveness. Her sharp edges aren't defense mechanisms to protect her from previous traumas, they're just inherent pieces of her personality. Despite her intimidating exterior, Ivy has a huge heart and loves the few that are lucky enough to be close to her. Our hero, Sebastian, has his hands full if he stands any chance of getting close to Ivy. It's going to take someone with a strong will to crack her surface. Sebastian is hardened from years of doing the necessary to survive. He's got countless skeletons in his closet and I loved the mystery behind this man. The hero and heroine are both stubborn and strong willed, constantly challenging one another in a battle to see who will concede first. I loved how they pushed each other one second and settled into a comfortable silence the next.

As far as the story goes -- you'll have to experience all the shock and betrayal for yourself. Ivy and Sebastian and thrown together by unfortunate circumstances and must navigate through the destruction to find closure. Nothing about this story is typical or boring. Every page drew me in deeper than the one before it and I found myself unable to let go of Surviving Ice until I reached the end. Even now, I am itching to dive back in and rediscover Ivy and Sebastian's story. There is something profound about Tucker's writing and a finesse to her words you don't come across often in today's saturated market. The suspense, the mystery, and the undeniable chemistry within this story make it one of the best novels around and a definite must read.

Born in small-town Ontario, K.A. Tucker published her first book at the age of six with the help of her elementary school librarian and a box of crayons. She currently resides in a quaint town outside of Toronto with her husband, two beautiful girls, and an exhausting brood of four-legged creatures.

A soft meow catches my ear. The resident tabby cat—a whore who hops from one villa to the next, sharing her affections without discrimination—struts across the thick balcony wall to me, her tail curling in the air as she approaches. I stroke the soft patch of fur beneath her chin and listen to her purr while I begin to mentally prepare myself for my return to California.
It’s been almost five years since I last stepped foot on American soil. Soil that once brought me purpose, love, and determination. Then pain, weakness.
What will it bring me now?
My hand drops from the cat’s chin, deciding I’ve given her more than enough. She leans forward, head-butts my arm— allowing me a chance to reconsider, to show her the kind of love that I am no longer capable of—before giving up and scuttling away.
With a sigh and one last glance over the peaceful blue waters, I flick the cigarette butt that sits mashed up on the railing and venture back inside to where an olive-skinned Grecian beauty is sprawled across my bed. She’s the smoker, and an unexpected outcome of last night, while I enjoyed a quiet solo meal by the water. A curvy, sensual woman, much like the tabby cat, stalking in to impose herself on my life. Except her affections weren’t as easily dismissed, wearing away at my defenses over the hours with throaty laughs and wandering fingertips.
Manipulating my loneliness.
I rarely succumb to it, but last night, I did.
I also must have had too many glasses of that pricey limnio, because I don’t usually end up in my own bed with a prostitute.
I slide a hand back and forth over the smooth skin of her hip until she stirs with a small groan. Eyes as blue as the Aegean Sea below us flutter open to meet mine. Her plump natural lips—that were wrapped around my cock with such expertise last night—curl into a smile. “Good morning, American,” she purrs in her thick accent, reaching for me. “You want more, don’t you?”
Had I not just received that call from Bentley, I probably would have taken her again. But minutes within getting news of my next assignment, my mind is already shifting focus, shutting down my weak human urges, preparing the rest of me for what is to come.
I quash her efforts for a repeat by filling her groping fingers with her crimson dress. “You can let yourself out.”
“But . . . last night was . . .” She stumbles over her own surprise. “Will I see you again?”
There’s no use pretending that either of us is something we’re not, that we will be more to each other than we were for a few paid hours last night. So I don’t bother answering, leaving her on my bed to head to the bathroom, feeling her anger blazing into my back.
