Jumping In by Cardeno C.

When love’s on the line, the brave jump in with both feet…

Small town cop Clint Rivera can’t catch a break. His ex of two weeks is suddenly getting married, his dogs tore up his furniture, he’s getting evicted, and he’s out of beer. When he decides to solve his alcohol shortage by going to his ex’s engagement party, Clint winds up too drunk to drive himself home.

Enter gorgeous deputy mayor Hawk Black, the man who constantly shows up unexpectedly and sends Clint’s body and mind into a tailspin with nothing but his whiskey voice and blue eyes. After months of patience, Hawk can finally seduce the man he’s been craving.

Clint’s day might not have started out well, but Hawk’s going to make sure it ends with a bang, preferably in bed. He’ll show Clint some rewards are worth the risk. With love on the line, Clint will need to decide if he can open his heart, tear down his shields, and jump in with both feet.

If you are looking for a M/M book that is short and sweet and an easy read this is the book for you. It goes by so fast that when you get to the end of the book you want more. I know that it says that it is an Alpha book, meaning that one of the characters is more aggressive and a bit rough, but I didn't get that at all from this book.

When you first start the book you really feel for Clint. He is having the bad day to end all bad days. He comes back from a camping trip to an invitation to his Ex's engagement party, he is being evicted, and his dogs have pretty much ruined his living room, including eating the cord on his TV. He knocks over his refrigerator and dumps out all of his beer, so he decides to show up to the engagement party, figuring what the heck, it is free beer. Needless to say, when he gets there, he finds out that they are not serving beer adding to the enjoyment of the day.
In comes Hawk. Just like his name, he flies in to rescue Clint. I believe he is the Alpha in this book because he knows what he wants and will pretty much do whatever he needs to get the man he wants. This is where the part where I hate novella's happens. I believe that the story was kinda rushed to the happy ending. Hawk was so in love with Clint, yet Clint did not even know that he was interested in him or that he was even gay. I truly believe that this could be a great full length book. However, like I said it is worth reading and you will love it!!

Cardeno C. - CC to friends - is a hopeless romantic who wants to add a lot of happiness and a few "awwws" into a reader's day. Writing is a nice break from real life as a corporate type and volunteer work with gay rights organizations. Cardeno's stories range from sweet to intense, contemporary to paranormal, long to short, but they always include strong relationships and walks into the happily-ever-after sunset.

Heartwarming Stories. Strong Relationships. Forever Love.

Be Mine Forever by Kennedy Ryan Blog Tour

Can a secret crush . . .

Jo Walsh has loved Cameron Mitchell for as long as she can remember. Whether front and center in her life or on the periphery, the tall, brooding artist has made his presence seductively and irresistibly known. But whenever they start to get close, Cam pulls away. Jo's tired of keeping her feelings in a box Cam is afraid to open. If he wants her, he'll have to prove it. And if he doesn't, Jo will need to know the real reason why . . .

. . . become the love of a lifetime?

How do you walk away from your soul mate? Cam wishes he knew. No matter how far he runs from Jo, he can't resist looking back at the silver eyes that seem to see right through him. But as well as Jo thinks she understands Cam, the dark truth about his past is something she shouldn't have to handle. Cam's sure that setting Jo free is the right thing to do. Too bad his heart has other ideas . . .

I have been a huge fan of this series, so needless to say I have been waiting a long time to read about Cam.  We heard a lot about him in the first 2 book in the series and he comes off as kind of an a-hole for the most part.  Of course, you knew that there had to be a reason, but to the average reader he is probably the man you loved to hate.

The whole Cam and Jo connection actually starts in the first book.  We know that Cam came to live with the gang when he met Bennett at a camp that his mom ran.  At the end of the camp, the family brought Cam to live with them and he became part of the family.  At a very young age, Jo fell in love with Cam and never actually let her feeling be known.  She even sat down and watched Cam marry another woman.

Ok- so now Cam is divorced from his wife, who happens to now be married to Jo's cousin, who just happens to be Cam's best friend (yes it is a cluster of all f'ed up proportions).    Jo is working out of state and get the call that she needs to come home NOW as her cousin is out of the country and Cam is there to help in the delivery of his twin daughters (yes- Cam is helping deliver his ex-wifes babies to his ex-best friend).  What we come to find out, is that Cam has not called Jo in 6 momths and to say she is a bit pissed is any understatement.

So we get that both Jo and Cam has issues.  That is a given.  We know that both of them have loved one another for quite awhile, however, Cam is going through that I am not good enough for you phase of his life.  He has some massive demons that he has to go through, and the more you learn in the book about him, the worse you feel that you felt that he was a d-bag.  By the end of the book, I just wanted to open my arms wide and cuddle everything bad that ever happened to that man away.

Cam and Jo are ment for one another, and I love that Jo's father supports them being together as he has seen the feelings that they have for one another.  He thinks of Cam as his son, so it is nice to see that Cam does have someone that is looking out for him.

The ending of the book is bittersweet and made me a little teary as the saga is now over.  They are a happy family and have happy lives.

Cam massaged his temples, seated on the floor with his back to the love seat in Jo’s suite, elbows to knees and head in his still-trembling hands. It had been so real. Like it was happening all over again. The cheap, pungent cologne trapped in his nostrils. The big, calloused hand pressing his neck into the weathered wood of the table beneath his cheek. The steady scratch of the table legs scraping across the linoleum floor with each violent movement, all the more vile because of the sun shining through the kitchen window. In broad daylight.
And the pain.
God, the pain, splintering up his back and puncturing him from behind.
Cam curled his bare toes into the plush area rug. He knotted his fists at the base of his neck, rubbing the tight muscles there, and brushed the sweat from his face.
He had to pull it together before Jo got back from her run with Meredith. If he was going to be with Jo, he had to fix this. Figure out how to get rid of these damn dreams. He sniffed at his T-shirt. Did he smell like him? Was it his imagination that the nasty, cloying scent had somehow crossed space and time and infected the fibers of his clothing again? Cam ripped the shirt over his head and tossed it across the room. He strode to the bathroom, shedding his jeans and stepping into Jo’s gargantuan shower.
The water wasn’t hot enough. Nothing could wash away the filth. Those hands on his shoulders. Sweat dripping from above into his hair. Spittle on his face. God, he couldn’t get clean. He barely noticed his chest and arms reddening under the scalding water and the vigorous scraping of his nails. He sank to the shower’s stone bench, pulling one knee up and enfolding it with his arm. The hot water wasn’t nearly as scorching as the shame these memories burned into him every time they paid him a nocturnal visit.
“Cam!” Jo’s voice, bordering on urgent, already concerned. “Are you here?”
Cam swallowed over his aching vocal cords. He’d awakened with screams running up his throat and fleeing his mouth. He turned off the shower, stepped out, and grabbed a towel from the hook by the door, knotting it around his hips.
“I’m in here. In the bathroom.” He prayed he sounded normal, even though he didn’t feel it yet. Couldn’t reach it yet.
Jo waved at the thick-as-soup steam filling the room.
“Good grief. Was the water set on hot as hell?” She stopped in her tracks, her eyes resting on his bare torso. “What happened to you?”
“Huh?” He looked down at himself. His arms and chest glowed red, angry lines striping him where his nails had dug in. “Oh, I guess I was…the water must have been too hot.”
“I have some ointment we can—”
“It’s fine, Jo. Leave it.”
“No, really.” Jo walked over to open the medicine cabinet. “I know I have some.”
“I said drop it.” Cam’s sharp voice sliced through the steam.
Jo looked over her shoulder, still facing the medicine cabinet.
“Jo, I didn’t mean to snap at you. It’s just…Leave it, okay?”
Jo faced him, leaning against the bathroom counter. She pulled her headband off and the elastic holding her hair hostage. She fiddled with them both before wrapping them around her wrists and looking him in the eye.
“Did you…did you scratch yourself like that, Cam?”
Jo would never understand not feeling clean. Like in-your-bones, under-your-skin dirty. Beyond-scalding-water dirty. One day in and he was already giving her reason to regret taking a chance on him. She’d think he was crazy if he told her he smelled that monster’s cologne on his shirt, on his skin, in his hair. The man was dead.

Release Day Blitz: Genie by Kitty French

Feathers. Lies. Glitter. Secrets. Lust. Meet Genie Divine, the wise-cracking London show-girl on a hell-bent mission to save her beloved family theatre. Now meet Abel Kingdom, the australian gym mogul determined to buy it out from underneath her. On paper they have nothing in common, and when they meet, they have even less. The only thing they DO have is chemistry. Undeniable, rip-my-clothes-off-and-do-me-now-against-the-wall chemistry. He wants her theatre. She wants him dead. The stage is set for an explosive summer…

The lift doors behind them slid open and he half dragged her inside the glittering, mirrored and thankfully empty chamber. As the doors closed, he pushed her against the back wall and lifted her clean off her feet, cradling her face in his hands as his crotch burned into her, hot and hard. His eyes told her that he was as far down the line as he was. ‘I can’t take my fucking eyes off you,’ he breathed. ‘Or my hands.’ Genie didn’t want him to take his hands off her. She wanted him to use them to rip her dress from her body and screw her right there against the wall of the lift. This wasn’t about his business with her uncle any more. It was about the fact that no man had ever touched her like this, made her feel like this, in her entire life. It was about the fact that this was so far beyond turned on. He made her burn for him, as if she were stifling and the only thing that would give her air was the orgasm he was about to give her. ‘Then don’t,’ she said, her fingers on the buttons of his shirt. She wanted him out of it. ‘Don’t take your hands off me. Put them on me.’ His dark eyes glittered, and the lift juddered to a halt as his palm slammed over the emergency stop button. ‘We’ve got three minutes before the override kicks back in,’ he told her, and Genie gasped as he rucked her skirt up and slid his hand up her thigh. She had his shirt open and dragged it free of his trousers. Rock star beautiful, his hand skimmed her panties. She was lost in how good he was. Three minutes would have to be enough. ‘Put your hands all over me, Abel.’ His tongue slid between her lips as he kissed her, his fingers stroking over the silk between her legs. ‘Is this where you want me to touch you, Beauty?’ He whispered. Beauty. The endearment on his lips flipped her stomach almost as much as his touch between her legs did. ‘Here?’ He pushed the satin aside and ran the back of his fingers over her. His tongue traced her mouth, mirroring the sensation. So much, and still nowhere near enough. Yes, there. Yes, more. She rocked into his fingers, moaning as they moved into her folds. Abel held her steady between his body and the wall as he opened her, explored her. ‘You feel fucking amazing,’ he muttered, his voice barely there, raw. Genie clung to him, her mouth on the bunched muscles of his tanned shoulder where she’d pushed his shirt back. He was beautiful in the most masculine sense of the word. Hard. Sexy. Lava hot. And very, very turned on, if his shallow breathing pattern was anything to go on. She knew now just how much he’d been holding back downstairs. He was like a sexual force of nature. Unstoppable. She bit down and gasped as he drew patterns on her clitoris, his mouth hot on her ear. ‘I’m gonna slide my cock inside you,’ he whispered, switching to a steady rhythm. ‘Right here,’ he pushed two fingers inside her, his thumb still working her clit. Genie cried out, opening wider, clamping her leg around his thigh. ‘Beauty...’ he breathed as he ran his tongue over her ear. ‘Sweet Jesus...’ he groaned as she rode herself against his hand. She was going to come. He had her rapt, spiralling, grinding down on his pumping fingers. She wanted everything he had. His hands, his mouth, his cock. All of it, right here in this lift. She couldn’t breathe, she was so close, so ready. ‘Oh my fucking God,’ she gasped, biting her lip as he slammed her harder against the wall, his mouth all over hers, his fingers knuckle deep inside her. She opened her eyes almost in shock as her orgasm started, and found his eyes open too, watching her. Dark. Lost. Possessive. Filthy. His lips parted slightly as his breath dragged out of his chest and his hips rocked against his hand between her legs. It was as close to fucking as it got. Every inch of Genie’s body tensed as he crooked his fingers inside her, massaging her g-spot. ‘Abel...’ He held her steady and kissed her through it. Through every dazzling, bone-melting second of her orgasm, every breathless gasp, every tremor. His lips roved over her mouth, drinking from her, connecting her to him in every way possible as her body broke hard for him. ‘That was pretty fucking sexy,’ he whispered a few seconds later, slowly straightening her panties and smoothing her dress over her hips before buttoning his shirt as the lift started to move again. She swallowed with difficulty as the doors slid open, unable to speak yet. Hell, she could barely stand up. ‘Not our floor,’ Abel mouthed against her ear, moving to stand close behind her against the wall as several people stepped into the car. A couple. A businessman. Was it obvious to them what they’d just been doing? Surely it had to be written all over her face that she’d just had the best orgasm of her life? Abel’s hand rested on her hip, and as the car began to move he drew her back and settled his still hard cock against her ass. ‘How do you want it?’ he spoke quietly, but Genie was pretty certain the other woman heard him. He kissed her neck slowly, sending a shudder of pleasure from her scalp to her toes. ‘Like this, from behind?’ he murmured as his fingers spanned her stomach, holding her against his erection as more people stepped in at the next floor. Clearly their three-minute lift stop had caused something of a backlog. It was getting a little crowded. She all but yelped as his hand moved over her ass. ‘want you on your knees...’ he whispered, and she closed her eyes. The man melted her. ‘I want you on your back...’ his voice was lethal in her ear. ‘I want you on my cock, Beauty.’ The lift stopped again at the last but one floor and everyone except Genie and Abel stepped out of the car. As the doors slid closed, the woman turned back and flicked an appreciative glance towards Abel, and an envious one at Genie. She couldn’t blame her. The man radiated sex, and right now, late night and turned on, he was the dictionary definition of hot as hell.

A Restored Man by Jamie Reese Blog Tour

Cole Renzo thinks his greatest challenge is to behave for the remainder of his term at Halfway House. Until he meets his new boss, Ty Calloway, a man who ticks off every box on Cole's list of interests.

A sought-after restorer and customizer of exotic and collectible cars, Ty had enough confidence to command what he wanted in life, until one fateful night changed everything. Almost two years later, he’s slowly rebuilding his life with great control. He's defied the odds and works tirelessly to be the man he once was—but he still feels broken.

Cole’s candor and unfiltered personality awaken Ty’s barely-remembered desire to greet each new day with a smile, while Ty’s unwavering acceptance of Cole’s quirks and brash humor makes Cole feel as if he fits in for the first time in far too long. When a nemesis threatens Ty’s personal restoration and the things he holds dear, Cole is determined to protect their relationship, even if that means sacrificing everything he’s worked so hard to achieve.

But Ty will have to let his guard down, surrender control, and admit he needs Cole first, even if that puts himself at risk of breaking beyond repair.

Oh Mr Cole.  How I wish that I could find a gay best friend that is as awesome as you.  You spent hours of my weekend making me laugh and care about you.  Now that I am done with you, I just want to wrap my arms around you and just cuddle and be besties forever.

Ok- so maybe I am being a bit dramatic, but I honestly can say that I was in a major book rut.  I couldn't get into ANYTHING that I wanted to read, even Ryan Christensen did not make it go away.  Then came the Men of Halfway House series and they blew me away.  Yes, it is a M?M book, BUT don't let that deter you from reading any of these books.  The stories are amazing and not what I would call a hard core sex in your face kind of book.  They are just really good love stories that take you away from the drama of your life for a short time everyday that you read them.

We first meet Cole in the second book in the series.  All of the residents at Halfway House are on parole and have just gotten out of jail.  Cole is there for a few months after spending time in jail for stealing a car.  He is what you would call a car junkie.  He knows cars in and out and when one of the residents of HH are put into witness protection, he is given his boyfriends car on one condition.  He has to finish out his time at HH and keep a job, which he find for Cole.  Cole is not too sure that he likes the idea, but he loves the car and wants it in every way possible.
Along comes Ty.  Ty is the owner of the shop that he will be working and and has some history of his own.  He is trying to get his life back in order after an accident that kills his parents and leaves him with scars both on the inside and outside.  We can see that Cole and Ty are both hot for each other, but at the same time, they are both hesitant to start anything because both are not sure that they are good enough for one another.

I loved to watch Ty and Cole get together.  Yes, they have enough drama to fill an eighteen wheeler, but they are just so perfect for each other.  You root for them throughout the book.  There is a certain magic in them that makes you want to just push them together and lock them in a closet until they have a major makeout session.  You can see that they are both struggling with their feelings for one another, but at the same time you get why they are acting the way that they are.

Along the way we get to catch up with Matt and Julian, the owners of the halfway house.  I just love them together and the way that they just fit together.  They add so much to the book and the chemistry inside the house.  Aiden is Ty's brother and I am pretty sure that this arrogant man with his heart on his sleeve will be the next one to get a book written about him.
It takes a very good author to give us a great story, about a very taboo to some people subject, and in the end have us clamoring for more.  That is what you are going to get with  a Jamie Reese book.

"I thought those were the service bays,"
Cole said, thumbing over his shoulder.
"They're for the traditional shop work my techs
do on a daily basis. These are my
service calls. Side project I'm doing and there's no money in it for the guys
so I don't really want to burden them. I figured we could work on them and, in
between, we could tinker with the Yenko if you want or wrap up the last few
details on the Drayton rig. I worked on most of it over the weekend but there
are still a few things to finish up."
Cole stopped walking. "You'd let me work on the
Yenko with you?"
Ty nodded. "Sure, why not. I've seen how picky
you are with your work."
"So it's my reward for helping you with your
service calls?"
Ty chuckled. "Do you do tricks too?"
Cole raised an eyebrow and half smiled. "Oh, I've
got a lot of tricks I can show you." He smiled at the rush of color to
Ty's cheeks, loving the way Ty always reacted to his teasing.
"You do realize you're an HR nightmare," Ty
said, looking at Cole with that glimmer in his eye.
Cole's pulse raced. "HR?"
"Human Resources. Sexual harassment, all
that," Ty said, trying to look serious and indifferent, but failing
Cole belly-laughed so loud it echoed in the shop. He
then stilled, straightened his shoulders, and mocked a serious tone. "I
could, of course, be completely professional and proper with you, Mr. Calloway,
if that is your preference," he said, mimicking Matt's formal tone.
Ty turned to face him, the mock seriousness
transitioning into something more genuine. "And I, of course," he
said, reciprocating Cole's tone, "would be deeply disappointed."
He looked up into those brown eyes and smiled.
"My army of superheroes and I would be as well." He bit back a smile
and bowed.
Ty's low rumble-laugh shot straight to Cole's dick.
Cole straightened. "Admit it, you like me."
Ty raised his hand and put his thumb and index
fingertips together with only a sliver of a gap between them. "Maybe a
little bit."
looked at Ty's fingers then glanced back at him with a huge grin on his face.
"It's a start," he said before walking off to the two cars parked in
the bay.

Jaime Reese is the alter ego of an artist who loves the creative process of writing, just not about herself. Fiction is far more interesting. She has a weakness for broken, misunderstood heroes and feels everyone deserves a chance at love and life. An avid fan of a happy ending, she believes those endings acquired with a little difficulty are more cherished.
