Safe Bet by Monica Murphy is a quick, light read. This is a sweet Contemporary Romance that is perfect for a few hours of escape. This story has a New Adult feel to me, but sits firmly in the contemporary genre of romance.
Sydney is kicked out of her home due to a huge mistake she made. She is left with nothing and no where to go. When she lands a job as a live-in nanny, she finds her luck turn around. Unfortunately, the press turns a family outing into an affair between her and her boss, football star Drew Callahan, and her life turns upside down once again. They come up with a plan for her and one of Drew's teammates, Wade, to fake date. The only problem is, neither is looking for a relationship and fighting their attraction gets harder the more time they spend together.
I mostly liked this story. As I said, it is a sweet and quick read. However, I felt that maybe it was too quick. At times, the story felt a little flat and rushed. I did like the relationship between Wade and Sydney. I loved how once he knew what he wanted with her, he wasn't afraid to go after it. I just wish it could have been strung out a little longer.
