Shameless King Banner

RELEASE BLITZ
Title: Shameless King
Author: Maya Hughes
Genre: New Adult Romance
Release Date: June 28, 2018

A deliciously steamy enemies with benefits romance.

Declan McAvoy. Voted Biggest Flirt. Highest goal scorer in Kings of Rittenhouse Prep history.
Everyone’s impressed, well except one person…

After a blow out in high school, Makenna Halstead and I were happy to never have to cross paths again. Except life has a way of knocking you straight in the teeth with a puck when you least expect it. She hasn’t just returned to my life, she crashed into it like a wrecking ball...into my college kingdom, into my class, and smack dab into the seat next to mine. My new lab partner to be exact.

For years we hated each other... I may be King on the ice, but she is the Ice Queen. She has no problem calling me out, doesn’t back down, and her piercing blue eyes have me picturing more than than just my arms wrapped around her.

Now we’re stuck with each other and there’s no getting around that fact that we have to work together. My hockey career hangs in the balance. Problem? Oh, yeah.

I can’t deny it. I want her. More than I ever thought I could want a woman. I’ve got one semester–only four months–to convince her everything she thought about me was wrong.

Will my queen let me prove to her I’m the King she can’t live without?

Only one way to find out…

I love a good sports romance. I also love an enemies to lovers story. Put these together and you've got me hooked. Shameless King is my first book from Maya Hughes and I really liked it. If you haven't read the prequel, Kings of Rittenhouse, I recommend it. It really gives you an understanding of the dynamic of the main characters in this budding series.

Declan and Makenna know how to push each other's buttons. They went to high school together and they did NOT get along. Makenna (Mak) is focused. She has a life plan and she is not willing to let anyone or anything get in the way of those plans. Declan is a hockey star. He seems to have life so easy, people falling at his feet, and everything just seems to work out for him. To Mak, he doesn't take anything seriously and he just floats through life. To Declan, she is way too serious and an ice queen. Of course, under all their annoyance and anger, the two are (unwillingly) attracted to each other - not that they would ever admit it out loud.

Fast forward to college...
Declan and Mak haven't seen each other in years. They are just an annoying memory. However, when Mak decides to go to school closer to her parents, their paths cross yet again. They fall back into their old pattern of dislike. They are forced to work together when they become partners in a class that they both have to pass in order to reach their dreams.

I really liked the dynamic between Mak and Declan. At first, their digs at each other were pretty entertaining. The snark that came from both of them had me laughing at times. When their relationship and attitudes began to change, their snarky banter turned playful and flirty. Add in the steamy, sexual tension, and I couldn't wait for the pair to finally give in. I really enjoyed how these two evolved throughout the story. I did find Mak to be pretty high strung, but she had good reason. This poor character - she was her own worst enemy. I absolutely loved Declan. He brought life to Makenna, and in return, she brought a balance to him that he didn't know he was missing.

This book was centered around Declan and Makenna, but there were so many more characters that I came to care about. The author not only created two strong leads, but the supporting characters really stood out in their own right. I feel invested in these other characters and I can't wait to see what the author has in store for them.

Maya Hughes is a Jersey girl, no not that kind! And she also thinks it’s super weird to talk about herself in third person :) I’m a romance writer who loves taking inspiration from everyday life, the music I listen to, and the people I know to create stories that sparkle and shine.
I’m the mom of three little ones, the wife to an amazing husband and also work full time. Some of my favorite things are cinnamon rolls, white wine, laughing until I can’t breathe and traveling with my family.

Blog Tour: The Effects of Falling by Mariah Dietz

Title: The Effects of Falling
Series: The Weight of Rain Duet #2
Author: Mariah Dietz
Release Date: Aug 2, 2016
I have loved my best friend for eleven years.

Eleven years of celebrations.
Eleven years of victories and losses.
Eleven years of inside jokes and shared smiles.
Eleven years of helping him raise his daughter as a single father.

He smiles at me and my world brightens.
He ignores me and I forget how to function.
He holds my hand and takes more of my heart.
He leaves and time stops.

We have both lost too much, but am I willing to risk the effects of falling again?

Yes! Yes! Yes! I absolutely loved this book! I adored the first book of
the series, The Weight of Rain, but this book just hit that sweet spot for me.

This is Summer and Kash's story. More, it is Summer's story of discovering herself and coming to terms with who she is since her BMX dreams are dashed. She and Kash have been friends for eleven years. She's been in love with him for the same amount of time. She helped raise his daughter, supported his career, and always stuck by his side. She finally has enough of being on the sidelines.

Kash is also in love with Summer. He is just too scared to admit it because of his past. When Summer starts pulling away (to discover herself), he lets her. He starts pulling away himself. But the two just aren't complete without the other and there is quite a bit of pushing and pulling on both sides.

The emotions in this book poured straight into my heart. Every single one became my own. The characters are so real and imperfect, but so right. There is a great balance of emotions and wittiness in this book. I laughed. I cried. I loved every single second of this book!

The Weight of Rain (#1) – Released Oct 27, 2015
One night changed my life-one that I barely remember.
When I close my eyes, my mind paints a picture of his smile and shades the contours of his hands, the deep scar around his bicep.
I'm an artist, yet my hands are unsteady. With his presence, he has unknowingly broken that something inside of me that makes me who I am.
Being around him is like standing in a rainstorm. First the drops tickle my skin, and then they coat me, refusing to be ignored. Finally, they soak into me, reaching parts of me I don't think anyone has ever touched.
When dreams turn into reality, will the picture in my mind transfer to paper?
