Blog Tour: Opposites Attract by Jessica Prince

Title: Opposites Attract
Series: The Locklaine Boys (Book 2)
Author: Jessica Prince
Genre: Contemporary Romantic Comedy

Delilah Northcutt has been described as weird, nerdy. But her favorite term is quirky. The eccentric flower shop owner definitely marches to the beat of her own drum. On the rebound from a cheating ex, she’s not looking to open her heart to someone else any time soon. On a whim, her best friend convinces her that one night with a stranger she’ll never see again is just what she needs to pull herself out of the funk she’s been living in.
Overly serious, workaholic Richard Locklaine was always described as the twin determined to do the right thing. Even if it was at the cost of his own well-being. But after years in a loveless, manipulative marriage, he’s finally free and ready to build a life of his choosing. And nowhere in that life is there room for another woman—unless it’s for just one night, of course.
They are complete opposites in every single way. But for some reason, fate has decided to force the two of them together. Despite the chemistry, they’re determined to fight the attraction growing between them. Besides, what could a florist with horrible taste in music and an attorney from Connecticut ever really have in common? Only one thing is certain. When they finally come together, it’s going to be epic.
***This is Book 2 in the Locklaine Boys series, a spin-off of Love Hate Relationship. They are interconnected standalones.***

Opposites Attract is such a fun book. I've read books that are said to be romantic comedies, but they fall flat. This book is truly funny. There were so many times that I laughed out loud. I just couldn't help myself.

Delilah is a delightful, quirky character that is so relatable. She is so much fun! Richard is charming, cocky, and everything that a hero in a Rom Com story should be. The story starts out with the duo having a one night stand, and Delilah sneaking out once he falls asleep. Of course, they didn't exchange numbers or names. They definitely keep reliving their night together and are unable to move on.

When fate throws them together, the fun and the heat really kick in. I loved all the witty dialogue. It helped make the story. Add in fun, out spoken characters who like to push each other's buttons and you've got a really great, really fun book.

What the hell was I doing?
As I scanned the dimly lit club, packed full of gyrating bodies that reeked of cheap cologne and too much perfume, I couldn’t help but wonder if I was actually stuck in the seventh circle of hell. Sweat was running into cracks and crevices I didn’t want to think about, and my eyes itched something fierce.
“Stop that!” my best friend Devon reached over and smacked my hand away from my eye.
“Will you quit hitting me?”
“Then quit digging at your eyeballs like you’re trying to pop them out!” she snapped before picking the shot glass up off the table and slamming the tequila down like a seasoned pro.
“I can’t help it,” I whined. “These contacts are driving me crazy! I don’t understand why I couldn’t have just worn my glasses.”
Devon braced her hands on the table and focused on me. “Because,” she spoke firmly, despite the copious amounts of booze we’d been ingesting for the past hours. “The goal for tonight is sinfully sexy, not adorably quirky.”
“But—” I began to argue, only to have her continue like I hadn’t said anything.
“And while there are men out there who can appreciate the day-to-day Delilah in all her cute glory, the purpose of tonight is to find a hot, well-hung man to clean your pipes and get your mind off that stupid bastard with hours and hours of meaningless sex. And the sad fact is, one-night stands just don’t go for adorable.”
My nose scrunched up at her remark. “Sweet Jesus, Devon. I’ll give you twenty bucks to stop referring to my lady bits as pipes. Every time you say it, I feel like I should call a plumber or something.” I reached over and snatched a shot glass off the table and downed it.
She hummed, tapping her chin thoughtfully. “Maybe you should. Lord knows your douche-bag ex wasn’t giving it to you good enough.”
“That’s not tr—” I began to argue, only to have her shoot me a look that said, “Keep lying to me. I dare you.” “Okay, so it’s true,” I finally relented.
Devon nodded satisfactorily. “That’s why I posted all over social media that he suffered from ED.”
My eyes went wide, my mouth hanging open. “You didn’t!”
“Sure the hell did!” she shouted proudly. “And I regret nothing. That shit-for-brains deserves so much worse for what he did to you. Now,” she pushed another shot glass in front of me, “drink up like a good little girl, and let’s find you a man you won’t have to ask, ‘Is it in yet?’”

That’s why God created central air, after all.

In addition to being a wife and mom, she’s also a wino, a coffee addict, and an avid lover of all types of books–romances still being her all time favs. Her husband likes to claim that reading is her obsession but she just says it’s a passion…there’s a difference. Least of all, us.

Thea and Xander have always avoided the connection between them because her brother would never approve. Now, they’re married— the strongest bond you can have as a couple—and they’re not even a real couple…unless they want to be.

Thea wants an annulment immediately, but Xander’s waited too long to see her become his and he won’t let her go easily.

If she wants a divorce, fine, but he wants the summer to convince her that he’s the one. If at the end of the summer she still wants to end their marriage he’ll sign the papers, but until then…

Excerpt

Unedited and subject to change.

Holy mother of all hangovers.

I’d succumbed to the lure of Vegas and gotten completely wasted. Granted, that’s what everyone did in Las Vegas but I like to think I usually have more sense than the social norm.

I rub my eyes and blink them open. The hotel room comes into formation around me. The walls are a warm golden color and the flat screen on the wall plays some home improvement show. I can see the bathroom from the bed, the tiled walls and large soaking tub.

I roll over onto my side, hoping I can sleep off the hangover, and reel back.

“Oh my God,” I cry, flailing in bed.

My legs kick the sleeping guy beside me.

Not just any sleeping guy.

Oh no.

Xander Kincaid, my brother’s best friend, lays in the bed beside me.

His dark hair tumbles over his forehead and his cheeks are covered with several days worth of scruff. His chest is bare and…holy shit. He’s naked.

I look down.

Oh God, I’m naked too.

“What’s wrong?” He asks, reaching his left hand out to pull me closer to him. That’s when I see it.

“Is that a wedding band?” I scream shrilly.

His eyes narrow. “You don’t fucking remember?”

I shake my head and look at my own hand. A thin silver band rests on my finger. “What did we do?”

He sits up in bed and I try to ignore how adorably rumpled he looks with his hair sticking up.

Everything begins flooding back to me in quick bursts.

Drinks.

Kissing.

Laughter.

Confessions of love and desire.

A wedding chapel.

Vows.

Rings.

A contract.

“We’re married,” I whisper. “Holy shit.” It’s all I’ve ever wanted—to be with Xander, but not like this. Never like this. “My brother is going to kill us.”

Blog Tour: Justice (Bad Boys of X-Ops #2) by Rie Warren

RELEASE DATE APRIL 25th

SYNOPSIS:

From the world of bad boys of Retribution MC comes a deliciously dangerous, scandalously sexy, four part series!
Good girl versus Bad boy. Southern charm comes head-to-head with military grit. They say opposites attract. That’s an understatement where Justice and Lawless are concerned.
JUSTICE  Let’s face it. I’ve got a bad rep with the ladies. I’m a rough-talking, smooth-loving, international playboy—yeah right, whatever—and an X-Ops specialist. Sure, I’m hiding a secret or two. Who isn’t? That’s the least of my concerns when I’m called in to lead an infiltrate-and-retrieve mission.
I’ve got my head in the game—the one firmly attached to my shoulders. An American embassy overseas is under siege, and I’m expecting to rescue the ambassador and his daughter, a stereotypical geeky damsel in distress, Matilda Lawless.
Caught in the crossfire between explosive danger and wild desire, I’m in for the shock of my life.
TILLY I’m not looking for any man to save me. I’m pretty damn capable of taking care of myself, thank you very much. I have a successful career and was practically born and bred on a gun range, even if I can’t bake a perfect biscuit to save my life like a good southern woman should.
But there’s just something about that hardcore operative called Justice. He’s haunted and lonely, and I know that pain inside and out. It doesn’t hurt one little bit he’s been blessed with more than his fair share of good looks, plus a body that would make any red-blooded woman drool.
Barricaded inside the embassy, under my father’s shrewd eyes, I intend to have Justice no matter how many times he says he’s not good enough. I see the way he watches me. With dirty, sexy, hungry lust.
Fighting is what Justice does. Now I need him to fight for me.
Warning: Graphic sex, graphic action, graphic language. Triple X caution.

Yes, yes, and yes! This book is exactly why I am addicted to Rie Warren. Justice is such an awesome read. It isn't a book that you should just add to your TBR, it's a book you should read as soon as you buy it!
This is book two of the new Bad Boys of X-Ops series. In this book, Justice is leading the team to save an Ambassador and his daughter in Yemen. The Embassy they are in was overtaken by rebels and they are holed up in a safety corridor. It is the mission to get in and get them out. While it sounds easy, things take a turn for the complicated once they get there. Not to mention, Justice's mind is absolutely muddled by Tilly, the daughter. He struggles on keeping his focus, but he is a soldier and he does a bad a** job at staying on task. Then, when the attraction becomes to great, all hell breaks loose.
One of my favorite things about this author is her characters. She has strong, hot alpha leads which I love. But, she has equally strong women to match them. These are no damsels in distress. These ladies can hold their own and though they want their men, they don't need them to survive. This book was so action packed! It was tense. It was emotional. It had awesome characters. This book is witty and humorous, and has great dialogue. This book is the perfect package! I cannot wait for the 3rd book in the series!

 EXCERPT:

“I think you’d best get some rest, Matilda.” My voice came out low but razor sharp, my words blunt and unmuffled.
If I had to be an asshole to her to maintain the necessary distance I would, because the suddenness of wanting her so damn much was painful.
And futile.
And stupid beyond belief.
Tsk.” She waltzed into the room all bare, tan legs and warm, soft scent.
Her fingers flicked at my forehead, and I reared back in surprise.
“Tilly, Ah told you. Only my grandmother has ever called me Matilda, and she’s so stiff I think she was molded into the apron she put on after she got married in 1948. I am not a Matilda.”
First of all, I couldn’t believe she’d flicked me. Me! A goddamn ex-marine and special operative.
And second, a grin crept up one side of my mouth, but I swallowed down the laugh that wanted to follow.
“What’s that?” Tilly pointed at the notebook resting in my lap.
Uh.” Fuck. I’d completely forgotten about the damn thing. “Nothing.” I quickly rolled it up and stashed it in my pocket. “Bullshit on pages. Gonna make a bonfire out of it later.”
I pulled out a throwing star I always flipped back and forth between my fingers. It flashed like lightning, throwing sparks of light across the room.
A much more manly pursuit.
Jesus. I am losing it.
Maybe I need some sleep after all.
I groaned.
Tilly plopped right down beside me with upraised legs, leaning the back of her head against the wall. “God, but it’s hot in here.”
Plucking at her shirt that ballooned before settling back against the firm round hills of her tits, she rolled her head toward me. “Justin, right?”
I met her eyes for a moment to see the twinkle in her irises.
“Justice.” I growled.
“Justice? Hmm. Justice what?”
“I’m not giving out that information.” I made my frown as formidable as ever, but I could tell she didn’t give a shit.
She leaned close enough her warm breath caressed my ear. “Who would I tell?”
“Chase . . . Justice Chase.” The words tumbled from my mouth.
She clapped a hand over her mouth to withhold a giggle. “Well, that’s not so bad, is it? Imagine if it was Chase Justice.”
“It’s not that.” Maybe a little. “No one’s supposed to know . . . who I really am.”
“Lawless and Justice, huh?” Her hand found my forearm, and her fingers squeezed the steel cable muscles. “Sounds like an outlaw movie. The next big blockbuster. I promise to keep your secret, Justice Chase.”
Spunky Tilly somehow lifted all the fatigue from my body, and I aimed a feral grin at her.
Her eyelashes fluttered. Her smile became a softer curve of her lips.
Her fingers traced all the way down to my wrist where a pulse pounded a heavy beat before she skimmed her hand to my thigh and down to the floor between us.
She made my body thump and my blood race. She made sensations fire like a network of heat to the center of my groin.
Maybe it was just the day, the night, the adrenaline rush that hadn't worn off and probably wouldn't. The same thing happened with every op—unleashed energy I usually slaked afterward by fucking. Fucking hard. Randomly. Anonymously.
Here there was no one to screw. Except Tilly.
There was no escaping her presence either, and, man, did I want to fuck the living daylights out of her.
I lifted one knee and casually—oh so casually—crossed a forearm over it so my hand nearly dangled in my lap, obscuring my growing hard-on from view.
“You should stay in your quarters, Matilda.” My voice sounded like gravel, and I shifted again.
“Is that a direct order, sir?”
