Dare to Take by Carly Phillips Release Day

A one night stand.
A secret.
A mistake they tried to forget.

On leave from the army, Tyler Dare is just looking for a little fun, but his best friend's sister is off limits. Yet unable to deny how sexy and alluring she is, he finds it all too easy to succumb to a night of passion and heat that ends the next morning in the worst way possible.

There are just some guys you don't touch--even someone as innocent and inexperienced as Ella Shaw knows that. But when her brother's best friend is up for grabs and willing, she can't resist. After all, she's wanted him for years…

Now, Ella is stranded on a tropical island with a hurricane bearing down, and only Tyler can save her. It's his chance to make amends for the past and show the woman he's never forgotten that he's coming after her . . . in more ways than one

I have been a huge fan of Carly Phillips for a LONG time.  I started reading her when I was in my 20's and was new to the whole genre of romance books.  One thing I can say is that her writing has evolved full circle and this is not something we would have gotten from the old Carly.  That being said, I LOVE it and her.  I think that one of the best things about her is that she likes to write books that are series.  Where we can get to know the characters and fall in love with them and their families.  I adore the Dare family.  They are fierce, protective, loving and genuine.  I guess you have to be when you have been through what they have been through.  You couldn't help but fall in love with the Alpha Ian in Dare to Love and you kept seeing it through what we have learned is the end of the series.  Originally I think the plan was to write a book about every sibling in the Dare family, and to some extent we got that.  Only the half siblings were not written (for the exception of Alex).  We don't get to meet them all that much and have only a few encounters with them throughout the series. I get why Carly decided to stop where she did.  We as readers are not connected to them as we were the rest of the Dare's and in truth, I don't think that Carly was as a writer- which is totally OK.  We got our ending that we needed in the series and it works.

Tyler and Ella's story was not my favorite out of all of the Dare siblings.  I felt less of a connection to the characters then I did in the rest of the series and it felt less personal and rushed to get to the end of the book.  I liked it, but I am used to LOVING a CP book, and I didn't feel this way with these two.  I felt like this was a little like Dare to Rock where the Avery went to go and live with Grey because someone was threatening her.  Same thing here- Ella goes to live with Tyler because she was being threatened.  The end seemed rushed and when it was over, I wanted to know more.  I know I am going to miss this family something big, but hopefully they will show up in other series that to come in the future.
