This book is not a romantic fairy tale. Yet, it’s the most romantic story I’ve ever told. It’s a journey of pain and loss, of hope and happiness. It’s both achingly tragic and exquisitely beautiful. It’s a love story. A true love story about real love. The kind that sees you through the night and holds you when you cry. The kind that won't give up and never lets go. The kind we all dream about and few find. But it’s real. I promise you, it’s real. I’ve seen this kind of love, and I've seen this kind of heartbreak. I got to see it up close and personal, and quite honestly, I will never be the same. I hope it changes you as much as it changed me.

Three months touring Europe.
Romantic. Dazzling. Unforgettable.
The trip of a lifetime.

But some lifetimes are shorter…

We couldn’t have known it would work out this way. No one could. No one could’ve guessed that something so beautiful could be so tragic.

But it is tragic.
Yet so, so beautiful.

That’s what sacrifice is—beauty and tragedy.
It’s pain and suffering for something or someone you love.

And this is the ultimate sacrifice.
One stunning act of true love.

This is our story.
Our true love story.

How do you write a review when you feel like your whole world has been shattered by a book? I can honestly say I’ve never read a book that has touched me like this. At one point my tears were falling so fast my husband begged me to stop reading. I couldn’t stop even though my heart was breaking.

The Empty Jar tells the story of Nate and Lena. You get their full story and a little bit after their story is over. It is the ultimate love story. I loved the connection you feel between Nate and Lena. You feel their happiness, their sadness and all the maddening moments in between that draw you in to their story. Several times while reading I stopped to think about their decisions. Would I make this decision if it was me? A few times I thought, I don’t think I could have made the decisions they had. Then in the next page, I was again second guessing if I could or would have made the decisions they were. In all honesty? I pray I never have to make those decisions and neither does my husband. Michelle hits a topic that scares me, scares me to my core. She wrote it so beautifully though that if this ever does happen to me, I hope I can be as brave as Lena was, and that my husband would follow Nate’s decisions.

This book is about life. REAL LIFE. The ups. The downs. The heartbreak. EVERYTHING. The feels in this book alone have left my mind reeling. How long will this book hangover last? How can I move forward from the experience I had reading The Empty Jar? Only time will tell.

Read. This. Story. It’s beautiful. You will cry. Multiple times. I hardly ever cry while reading, sometimes I think I’m broken because my friends will get so touched by a book and I’m over here thinking what is wrong with me? I cried with this story and it was so worth it. I’d do it again. Not for some time though. My poor heart couldn’t take a repeat right now. LOL.

Michelle, you’ve written an amazing book. I know this couldn’t have been easy on you but you made something absolutely beautiful that will stick with your readers forever.
