I was super excited to read this book. I first fell in love with the Auprince family in the first book of this series. You don't have to read book one to understand this one but it will help. Otherwise this book will have spoilers in it. After meeting Ethan in Heartthrob (book one) I couldn't wait to get to know him better. He was cocky yet funny and I needed to get to know him better.
Ethan Auprince owns the hottest restaurant in LA. Anyone who is anyone dines at the super exclusive Royalty. Ethan was definitely still just as cocky as I remember, yet he does have a sweet side that I was happy to see come out.
Pascal Nichols is the newest manager at Royalty, only she's not just a manager. She's been hired by the Auprince family to keep Ethan safe. Pascal is the top female bodyguard and she's damn good at her job. Pascal is sweet yet fierce. I enjoyed her character.
Ethan and Pascal have a history that neither have ever really gotten over. Will that interfere with her job? Can the pick up where the left off ten years ago or is the pain still too much to get over?
I will say I didn't love this book. I liked it but I didn't love it. There was so much build up about Ethan being stalked and it just fell so flat to me. Then there was a twist that I will admit I didn't see coming. While the twist isn't a bad thing, the way Pascal handled everything with Ethan annoyed me. It was so unnecessary and at times seems immature. Also, I was frustrated that this book just ends. I need an epilogue! There is one thing that I absolutely loved and that is Grandma Rosemary. That woman is a hoot and had me cracking up. She is hilarious and full great comebacks.
I wanted to love this book, I really did. I enjoyed Bielman's writing in the first book of this series but this one just seemed to fall short for me. That being said, I will absolutely read Drew's book because I really do love the Auprince family and it's always nice to get more of them.
