Blog Tour: Dear Juliet by Trudy Stiles

I was so excited to get my hands on this book! I have been impatiently waiting for this story. I absolutely fell in love with Seth in the first book, Dear Emily, and I NEEDED him to have his HEA. This is the 3rd book of the Forever Family series. It can be read as a stand alone, but there are spoilers to the other books, so I suggest you read them first.

The first two books in the series were super emotional for me. They grabbed a hold of my heart and I'm still feeling the effects. I enjoyed this book, but I didn't "feel" it like the others. I still absolutely adored Seth. I'm glad I got his story and closure for him.

However, it was hard for me to connect with Juliet. I liked her alright. She was a great match for Seth, but it was hard for me to believe how much stock she put into a letter that she never read; how she let it effect her life as much as she did. Aside from this letter, she did suffer a great tragedy. My heart bled for her, and for Seth, as he was effected by the tragedy as well.

I really enjoyed how the author spanned the book from Seth and Juliet's childhood to their adulthood. I loved how they were friends and were always close and in each other's life. She gave them a solid foundation to stand on and I felt that was a great touch. As with the other two books, I thought it was great how the three stories intertwine. Though I didn't love this one as I did the other two, I still think it's worth the read. The whole series is a must read!

Blog Tour: The Rub Down by Gina Sheldon

Dark room

Luke Stratton spends his days making clients moan in pleasure. His hands hold the ability to drive a woman to the brink of ecstasy. As a rule, his professional touch is the only thing he gives any female client. Until a Boston marathon trainee seeks his services.

Bare skin

One year after the tragic Boston Marathon bombing, Alexa Williams must overcome horrible memories of that day. She struggles to put her fear aside to meet the challenge of the run. A rigorous training schedule leaves her body aching, and with Luke’s help, Alexa finds soothing release at The Rub Down.

Healing Hands

Will Luke hold onto his rules and let Alexa go, or will they be able to cross the finish line together?

I am always both a bit nervous and a bit excited when I read a debut novel from a new author. I never know what I'm going to get. Will it be fabulous or will it be difficult to finish? Thankfully, The Rub Down is an excellent read.

This story is set in Boston approximately one year after the Boston Marathon bombings. Alexa is training for the marathon and is referred to Luke for sports massage therapy. There is an instant attraction, but Luke has a rule about not dating clients. As the weeks go along, the two become friends with very strong, more than friendship, feelings. Alexa tempts him to break that rule for her.

This story is very well written. For being the first novel that Gina Sheldon has written, it has a well developed storyline and characters.  Each character had distinct personalities and were very three dimensional. She also gave the story a nice steady flow that kept me engaged, interested, and caring about what happened next. I actually had a hard time putting this book down, but my body's darn need for sleep forced me to. LOL Well, I take that back. There was one point in the book where I got so involved and nervous that I HAD to put my Kindle down. All these bad things kept running through my head, and I just needed a breather. I cannot wait for more from this author. She is DEFINITELY an author to watch for!

Prologue

Crisp white linens covered Tamlyn’s spread limbs, and soft candlelight cast shadows across her features.

“Harder, Luke, harder. You know I love when you’re rough with me.” She squirmed under my touch, her voice drowning out the soft background music. After two years in our relationship, I was accustomed to her giving me directions.

“Tamlyn, you know I’ll bruise you if I go at you any harder, and you won’t be able to walk tomorrow.” I spoke in a low, even tone, trying not to disrupt our rhythm. Every stroke of my fingers on her bare skin served a specific purpose. Tamlyn liked it hard and fast, but I preferred giving it to her gentle and slow.

“Right now, I don’t care. My body needs this. Needs you. Danny can’t give me what I need anymore.” She opened her eyes to peer up at me. “I’m too used to how you make me feel.”

“Oh, stop, Tam. You and I both know that Danny’s good. I’ve never heard a woman complain about him.” My hands glided over her smooth calves. “His style’s different from mine, but he knows how to get results.”

Tamlyn wasn’t the first woman Danny and I had shared. In fact, we often swapped clients. In our line of business, it was common practice. We thought it was beneficial to the women who came to us.

“I know, but you know my needs and meet them every. Single. Time I see you.” She moaned when I gripped her hips. “I hate when you have to leave town. I seriously can’t survive without seeing you at least once a week.” Tamlyn tilted her hips to increase pressure right where she wanted me. “I even asked my husband, and you know I hate doing that. He tried his very best to do exactly what you taught him, but I swear I only moan so his feelings aren’t hurt.”

“Derek looked like he knew what he was doing when I taught him how to take care of you.”

A few months ago, Tamlyn brought her husband to see me. She wanted him trained to satisfy her body’s needs in my absence.

“Now hush, our time’s almost up, and I’m not through with you yet. I haven’t heard you scream my name,” I said as I moved into position to finish her off.

To gain better leverage for what I planned next, I placed my knee on the edge of the table. As my fingers trailed her inner thighs, Tamlyn squirmed beneath me. This was my favorite part, and I was going to make sure she enjoyed every second of it. As I reached my destination, her moans grew louder.

Then the door to the room slammed against the wall.

“You cheating bastard.” My girlfriend, Jennie, stood in the doorway, red-faced and screaming at the top of her lungs. Before her crazed presence registered in my mind, she lunged for Tamlyn.

All hell broke loose.

Gina Sheldon is a devoted wife, busy mom of twin girls, and the proud owner of a small business. She often travels the very streets of Boston she writes about in her debut novel, “The Rub Down.” One thing she refuses to leave home without is her Kindle. Their relationship borders on obsessive. As a beta reader and blogger, Gina shares her love of books with others, and her love of words has now carried her into the field of self-publishing. When she’s not reading or writing, she can be found surrounded by family and friends, enjoying a glass of wine, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, or both.

Blog Tour: Love Surfaced by Michelle Lynn

The equations are simple.

Piper Ashby + Brad Ashby = Twin Siblings
Brad Ashby + Tanner McCain = Best Friends
Piper Ashby + Tanner McCain = Off limits

Tanner and I abided by the rules. We stayed on our designated sides of the relationship circle.

Ignoring swarming butterflies.
Brushing off skipped heartbeats.
Settling on lingering stares.

Here’s the secret … a hand extended over that invisible line once, exponentially changing the equation. I was convinced we could make our relationship work until Tanner broke the trust he embedded in me from the age of seven.

One deceit of mega proportions and the relationship we built for that short month vanished. I swore never to speak to him again and it’s worked. Until now—two years later, when my brother’s wedding places me face-to-face with the best man—Tanner McCain.

Leaving one equation to be solved. Can love surface twice?

Wow! What a story! From the synopsis I expected to like this, but I absolutely fell in love with this story. I admit, I am a sucker for the "forbidden" relationship books. Make it the brother's best friend and it's even better!

Tanner is Piper's brother's best friend. They fight their attraction to each other, but finally when they are in college it gets to be too much. They give in and have a secret romance where they fall fast and hard. But then Tanner does something to break Piper's trust and it all falls apart.

Fast forward several years to Piper's brother's wedding. Tanner and Piper haven't had any contact, and now they are trust together. He wants her forgiveness and to win her back. She is hiding in to her hurt and is in a relationship with someone else.

I really enjoyed how the story was over a length of time. I didn't realize it was going to span as long as it did, but it was a pleasant surprise. I think it helped me enjoy the characters and understand their relationship more. This was a quick, emotional read for me. Once I started, I couldn't put it down. The story captured my attention and my heart from the get go. I'm positive that this is a story that will stay with me for a long time.

This is my first Michelle Lynn book and it won’t be my last! I absolutely loved this story! I was completely addicted to the characters. I totally have a thing for brother’s best friends are off limit books. Mainly because I had older brothers and the biggest crushes on their friends. So I like to pretend it was my brother’s friend and me! I’m pathetic I know but let’s move on.
I adored Piper and Tanner. Tanner is downright swoon-worthy! I mean I think I sighed out loud a few times. Piper was great too! She held her own with Tanner and didn’t let him walk all over her.
The writing of this book was fantastic. I have found authors struggle writing a story that spans over many years. But Michelle nailed it! Every page felt natural and everything flowed perfectly! The secret that tore the couple apart was spot on and not anything I would have imagined!
The support characters were fantastic too! I loved Brad even though at times I wanted to punch him just like Piper did. I can’t wait for his book!
Definitely one click this one! You will not be disappointed!

“Piper.” He hesitates before joining me on the cement stoop.
I question why he even searched me out even though it’s been his MO lately, popping up wherever I am.
He places his arm across my shoulders and pulls me into him, which only brings a ripple of warmth to the pit of my stomach. “Come here.”
My head burrows into his strong chest, and his hand soothingly roams up and down my back. I sink into him. With the comfort of his arm, the tension in my shoulders from placing fifth in my swim meet slowly releases.
Refusing to let him make my mind race with his confusing affection, I sit up. Swiping the tears from my eyes, I honestly confess, “Tanner, it was my last shot.”
He begins to shake his head, but I stop him, “No, I have to realize it. My dream of swimming in the Olympics is over.” I rise to my feet, and the heaviness in my chest sinks back into place now that I’m out of his embrace.
He follows me over to the oak tree. Coming up behind me, his hot breath tickles my neck. My pulse races into overdrive, reminding me of how badly I want him.
Why does he keep leading me on?
He continues to toe the line between friendship and more, but he never actually steps over it. Each time his hand brushes mine or his eyes search me out, my heart stops beating for a moment as I hope this is it—until he crushes the fluttering butterflies and steps away.
I close my eyes from the view of Michigan University’s football stadium because I need to calm my insides. “Why are you here?”
He should be with my twin brother, preparing for their own meet.
“You should be in warm-ups.”
His hands land on my shoulders, and he leans down. At our connection, a tingle spreads through my body.
“I saw you leaving the pool house.” His voice cracks.
I hear his deep intake of breath.
“That’s not what I’m asking, Tanner.”
When I turn around, I almost collapse when I come face-to-face with this gorgeous guy. He’s absolutely one hundred percent the perfect male.
My perfect male.
His brown hair is tucked away in his MU hat that’s flipped backward. His lips and cheeks are rosy from the early spring chill in the air. With only a sweatshirt and track pants on, he’s the epitome of a college student. His good looks remind me of the unbearable yearning that pulls me toward him.
His eyes are so transparent that I can see the torment of his inner turmoil from our situation, meaning nothing has changed for him. He’s as conflicted as ever because I’m his best friend’s sister.
“I don’t know.” His voice is soft, caressed with the sweetness he’s shown me the last few months.
My stomach drops at his words. I want to grab his face with my hands and beg him to admit that the small seed of attraction has grown over the years and we can no longer dodge around it.
Instead, I stand there, with my hands at my sides, silently pining for the day he acknowledges our desire for one another.

“Then, that’s a problem.” My heart thumps as I sidestep him and weave through the sporadic clumps of snow that have yet to melt from the harsh winter.

Michelle moved around the Midwest most of her life, transferring from school to school before settling down in the outskirts of Chicago ten years ago, where she now resides with her husband and two kids.  She developed a love of reading at a young age, which helped lay the foundation for her passion to write.   With the encouragement of her family, she finally sat down and wrote one of the many stories that have been floating around in her head. When she isn’t reading or writing, she can be found playing with her kids, talking to her mom on the phone, or hanging out with her family and friends.  But after chasing around twin preschoolers all day, she always cherishes her relaxation time after putting the kids to bed.
