Again, Trudy Stiles has wowed me with her beautiful writing. This is book 2 in the Forever Family series, and it is just as good, if not better than Dear Emily (which is a 5 star read for me also.)

We meet Tabitha and Alex in book one and got a pretty good understanding of their dark, abuse filled pasts. In Dear Tabitha, we delve even further. Gah, the things these two went through is heartbreaking. This is their journey to healing and love.

I'm trying not to give spoilers to book one, so I can't say too much, but you have got to read this book. The author had my heart clenching and hurting, then turned around and filled it with so much joy.

Trudy Stiles is definitely a talented author. She pulls at every emotion and make you feel each and every one. I really enjoy her style of writing. I cannot wait to read book 3 in the series, which will be Seth's story. I so need him to find his happily ever after, because I fell in love with him in book one.

Trudy Stiles is a New Adult author, mom to two beautiful children, and married to the love of her life. She is the author of the Forever Family series including “Dear Emily” and “Dear Tabitha”. Blog Tour: A Firefighter's Flame by Dani Hart

For the most part I really enjoyed this book. There was a really good storyline that I think a lot of women can relate to. Lennox, or Len, suffers from manic depression. She has struggled with it her whole life and the reader follows along as she tries to navigate through life and relationships. While most women do not experience the highs and lows quite like Len, I think that she still represents a little of each of us.

When Len falls for Dean, she falls hard and fast. He does as well. I loved their relationship, at first. There is a gradual change in their relationship until finally she starts to break. The two are growing up and they have to figure out how to handle it together or it will tear them apart.

Fast forward to when she is a wife and mother. A lot of women get sucked in to the monotony of life. There are times of depression, but again, most women can dig their way out. Len has a harder time "shaking it off" due to her manic depression. We see motherhood and life through her eyes. I really did enjoy her journey and self-discovery.

This story is told in the present and also gives us flashbacks of the past. This is where I'm not quite sure how I feel about it. I DO enjoy stories like this. I feel it adds another layer to the plot and just gives me a better understanding of the characters. The author did it pretty well, but at times I felt that the story was a bit slow and repetitive. Lennox was down on herself quite a bit and it got a bit old, BUT that is a product of her illness, so I got it.

I think that this is a really good story. I became attached to the characters and am hoping that there is another book. There is NOT a cliffhanger. I just honestly enjoyed all the characters and would like to connect with them again. This book isn't about perfect characters that have perfect relationships. In all honesty, they are all flawed in some way. It is how they navigate through life despite all their flaws that makes a lovely story about love, forgiveness, and the possibilities that life can hold.

There was a time in my life when the light within me shined so brightly. At some point I lost it. I lost me. Life used to course through my veins like an out of control wildfire, unstoppable and infectious. Time was supposed to heal, but all it did was slowly strip me down to an empty vessel void of passion, desire, and drive. I wanted to scream, “Be the one to save me,” but my soul was drained, my heart was shattered, and time had siphoned the life out of me.

 

Dani’s passion for writing started at a very young age.  It all started with a multitude of diaries, then as her passion grew she turned to poetry and short stories.  She received her Bachelor’s Degree at USC in Theatre with an unofficial minor in writing.  While at USC she wrote her first screenplay and post-graduation was fortunate to be hired to write another screenplay.   As family life got busy her passion was pushed aside, but as she fell back into the love of reading her desire to write again increased, so she returned to it in the summer of 2013. She is currently working on a YA Urban Fantasy Romance series, The Life of Arie, with book 1 already published, and a Romance Novel to be released on March 17, 2014.
