The past year has been a tough one for the Cage family, but they are now on the road to healing by learning to let go of the past and looking forward to their future.
When situations beyond his control threaten to take away so much of what Greg holds close to his heart, he has to learn that he doesn't always have the control he tries to maintain in their lives. Will he be able to handle the stress of knowing his wife and newborn daughters are beyond his protection?
Join the Cage family as they embark on yet another one of life’s journeys with a rambunctious four-year-old, pregnancy complications, and the fear of the unknown.
Will the love that Greg and Melissa share hold true as they fight to overcome the obstacles that face them?
UNCAGED is not a standalone. It is a continuation of CAGE. It is recommended that you read the first 3 books in the series before UNCAGED.
I’m going to be honest right from the start - if you are looking for a non-biased review then you may need to find a new one BUT if you are looking for a biased YET honest review then you’ve picked the right review to read.
I know that sometimes writers suffer from writer’s block but I’m here to tell you that this reviewer suffers from a bad case of reviewer’s block.
This review is being written after the THIRD time that I’ve read Uncaged.
The first time I read it was as a chapter-by-chapter beta reader.
The second time I read it was to make sure that everything flowed well.
And now this third time I read it strictly as a fan.
So…here goes…
“I love you, my Beauty.”
“And I love you, my Beast.”
*sigh*…My man, my Beast…HE’S BACK and BETTER than EVER!!!
I just can’t even tell you how much I’m in crazy book boyfriend love with Greg Cage!
If you’re planning to read Uncaged then I sincerely hope that you have already read the other books in the Corps Security Series because you will not only be insanely lost but you are also missing out on one of my absolutely FAVORITE series.
Uncaged focuses on Greg, Melissa, and their son, Cohen Cage as they await the arrival of twins Lillian Sofia and Lyndsie Grace, but don’t let the fact that this is a novella fool you - there are PLENTY of sexy, funny, loving, and break-your-heart moments flowing throughout.
“Do you ever worry? Things have been going so well that I’m almost afraid to believe that it’s finally time for us to have our happily ever after.”
“There isn’t a damn thing in this world that can keep us from our happily ever after.”
You know an author has serious talent when on your third time of reading a book you still get chills, you still cry, and your heart still races – at 48% I had a death grip on my Kindle and I was terrified – don’t judge me, I scare easily.
But you know what else shows an author’s talent?
During all of the heartbreaking moments…the moments that wreck you – they can still have those moments woven in that make you smile and that make you laugh.
“Sorry I broke your toy, Cohen, but Dee’s going to bring you a new one in just a little while… Hey, why don’t we keep this between us?”
“Maddox Locke, you’re lucky my mommy didn’t see you throw a fit or you would be in time out for a reallllly long time.”
But in the end, after all the ups and downs and after all the highs and lows, Greg, Melissa, Cohen, Lila, and Lyn all get their happily ever after and we get a small glimpse of what the future will hold; if the epilogue is any indication…we are getting a lot more than we ever expected…
“Thank you.”
“For what?”
“For loving me.”
“You never need to thank me for loving you, Melissa. You make it effortless.”

I’ve been a fan of Harper’s since the first few pages of Axel captivated me and lured me into the amazing Corps Security series she had begun. Uncaged was the first time I had the privilege to beta read for her. So with that said, I’m following in my fellow Mean Girl Danielle’s footsteps and saying…there is no way I can be completely unbiased reviewing this novella. I’ve loved this series from the beginning, and despite Danielle’s public claiming of Cage, he’s the only Corps man for me, so naturally I was beyond excited he’d be getting a novella with Melissa and Cohen. I may not be able to be one hundred percent unbiased but I will be one hundred percent honest in my review. That’s your first warning…turn back now if that’s an issue for you. Your second warning is…although there will be no major spoilers PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not read Uncaged until you have read Axel, Cage and Beck. This is not meant to be a standalone and the novella will be one giant spoiler for the series. Starting at the beginning is worth every second of your time. With that said…
Uncaged is book 3.5 in the Corps Security series. It focuses on Greg, Melissa and Cohen Cage as they prepare for the arrival of twin additions to their family. All the Corps guys make appearances, it wouldn’t be a Corps book without them, even Sway in all his golden glittery sway-ness. No Corps book would be complete without laughs and tears too. I’ve quickly learned to have my trusty Puffs stationed nearby when picking up a book that says “by Harper Sloan” and Uncaged was no different. I cried tears of joy and tears of pain. This book had me all kinds of twisted up. The Cage family goes through an incredibly intense heartache - life's uncertainties are the worst, they are crushing and still the air around you making it hard to breath. I COULD NOT put this down - there was kung fu grip, yelling expletives and OMG-WTFs...it took everything in me not to throw my Kindle across the room. I couldn't believe Harper went there and yet there is a part of you that knows how it HAS to turn out, how you WANT it to turn out, and then you pray you're right. Uncaged was an amazing addition to the Corps series.

Uncaged is a Novella in the Corps Security Series. You MUST read Axel, Cage and Beck before you read this story.
Uncaged is focused on Greg, Melissa, Cohen and their twin girls who are yet to be born BUT we get to see a good amount of ALL the Corps Men and their ladies.
Novellas to me can be really good or really bad, in this case it was REALLY good! Greg and Melissa have found out they're pregnant and are over the moon. Cohen is very excited to be a big brother and he KNOWS he’s going to have a little sister to protect. When Greg and Melissa go to find out what they are having they are in for a surprise… TWINS! Greg’s reaction to this was HILARIOUS! Gosh, I could only imagine for so long you know you’re having a baby and then you are told there are two heads….. uhhh LOL! Once Greg and Melissa tell Cohen he’s going to be a big brother to two sisters his reaction is priceless. I freaking LOVE Cohen! He is just too cute! Now that they know they're going to be a family of five everything is going along just fine until something happens…… it ALWAYS happens.
After the “scene” your heart will be shattered. You will feel everything, at least I did. I love how all the Corps men come together as one when something happens to their family. They’re there to lean on no matter what, no questions asked. Maddox even returns home to help Cohen through some difficult times. You know me….. I love my Maddox. This part of the book has to be one of my favorites!! Ahhh, can’t wait for him!!
Anywho, back to Greg, Melissa and Cohen. Yes, your heart will be shredded BUT it will be put back together in full, I promise! If you are a fan of this series, this novella will make you an even bigger fan. Beauty and her Beast can make it through anything and come out smiling on the other side. And Cohen... like I said, I just LOVE this kid!
