Beautiful Sacrifice by Jamie McGuire

Title: Beautiful Sacrfice
Author: Jamie McGuire
Series: The Maddox Brothers #3
Release date: May 31, 2015

Falyn Fairchild can walk away from anything. Having already left her car, her education, and even her parents, the daughter of the next governor of Colorado is back in her hometown, broke and waiting tables for the Bucksaw Café. After every shift, Falyn adds to her shoebox of cash, hoping to one day save enough to buy her a plane ticket to the only place she can find forgiveness: Eakins, Illinois.

The moment Taylor Maddox is seated in Falyn’s section at the Bucksaw, she knows he’s trouble. Taylor is charming, breaks promises, and gorgeous even when covered in filth—making him everything Falyn believes a hotshot firefighter to be. Falyn isn’t interested in becoming another statistic, and for a Maddox boy, a disinterested girl is the ultimate challenge.

Once Falyn learns where Taylor calls home, everything changes. In the end, Maddox persistence is met with Falyn’s talent for leaving, and for the first time, Taylor may be the one to get burned.

Is there such thing as an undesirable Maddox brother? Answer: NO. Oh my, oh my. Taylor Maddox has melted my black heart. Beautiful Sacrifice is the third book in her Maddox Brothers Series and is serious literary gold. With each new story about this wild bunch of Maddoxes, I keep waiting to be left wanting, disappointed, or less than satisfied. It never happens. Jamie McGuire is remarkable. She knows how to write a story that is so addictive it's painful to walk away from it. Her words mesmerized me and held me captive until I finished Taylor's story. Even now that I'm finished, Beautiful Sacrifice is demanding a reread and I'm finding it hard to resist.

Falyn Fairchild is one stubborn gal. She comes from a life of privilege but has discarded her silver spoon for a life she can forge independently of her overbearing parents. I love her determination and how McGuire refuses to write a female lead that is anything but strong. You have to be tough to handle the Maddox men. Life is manageable for our leading lady but something is missing. She's going through the motions, just getting by, haunted by the life she abandoned.

Enter Taylor. Firefighter. Tattooed. Maddox. A trifecta of hotness. He can't resist Falyn's sharp tongue and aversion to his charm. He grates on her nerves and she'd likely watch him burn if he caught fire. Hell, she'd be the one starting the fire. As his pursuit doesn't waiver, her feelings begin to. This pair can't resist the spark between them, but their connection runs deeper than just a chance encounter in Colorado.

Passion. Heartbreak. Secrets, Danger. Beautiful Sacrifice was an adventure from start to finish. I loved every agonizing moment and couldn't help but swoon while watching Falyn and Taylor's flame ignite from a tiny spark to a full blown inferno. If you haven't discovered the Maddox brothers, right that wrong immediately! Each story is unique and epic. Now let's all say a collective "Thank you" to Jamie McGuire for creating these phenomenal Maddox brothers for the world to fall in love with.

Beautiful Sacrifice is book three in the Maddox Brothers Series. I recommend reading the whole Beautiful Series and then the Maddox Brother Series first.

Beautiful Sacrifice is Taylor’s story.  We don’t know too much about Taylor, just like we didn’t know much about Thomas before going into his story.  Again for me, this is huge.  I loved not knowing about him so my expectations wouldn’t be too high.  Taylor is a firefighter and is serving on a hot shot in Colorado currently.  Of course this is all on the down low since Jim Maddox (dad) made all the boys promise they wouldn’t do anything dangerous when it came to their jobs just like their mother Diane would have wanted.  Tyler is the only brother who knows what Taylor does for a living since Tyler himself is a hot shot.  Since Taylor and Tyler are twins, they are as close to each other as they can be.  Taylor is a Maddox so naturally he’s a man whore.  While out on an assignment he meets Falyn in a café and is instantly intrigued.

Falyn Fairchild is a waitress at Bucksaw Café.  She has felt comfortable working at the café the last five years.  For her she’s living a good life.  She walked away from the life she lived with her parents, one where her father is set to be the governor of their hometown in Colorado.  She has a mission, make enough money to get her to one place where she can come to peace with her life up to this point and hopefully move forward.  Falyn was a firecracker right from the start.  She knew she was being a bitch and honestly didn’t care.  This helped keep her head in the game.  She built a loving family around her with the owners of the Café, Chuck and Phaedra, and Kirby, the hostess.  Everything is going as planned until Taylor Maddox came into the café.

From the moment Taylor and Falyn met, I knew this would be a fun ride.  Falyn spoke and Taylor knew the chase would be worth it.  Jim always told the boys they would know when they found the one.  I could see how Falyn would rub some readers the wrong way but I truly enjoyed her character.  It’s refreshing not to read about a woman who doesn’t just fall at the feet of a man.  She had spunk and that was awesome.  I also loved Taylor.  He was fun, caring, goofy and fought for what he wanted.  A true Maddox!  Plus he’s a firefighter and what girls doesn’t have a thing for them?

Taylor and Falyn’s story is probably my favorite so far of the Maddox Brothers series.  I loved reading Falyn and Taylor grow stronger together, healing from their pasts and moving forward.  That all does not come easy for them.  They have some big humps to go over, one of which when it happened my thought went to seriously?  THIS is going to happen now?! But in the end Jamie finished it off nicely and I’m happy.  I can’t wait to read Tyler’s story!

More or less I went into reading Beautiful Sacrifice blind.  I obviously knew it was a Maddox brothers book but I had no idea who was next. I just knew that I had enjoyed all of Jamie McGuire’s books that it didn’t really matter, I was going to read it.

This book is Taylor and Falyn’s story. I will admit that I really struggled with Falyn in the beginning. She was so closed off and bitchy that I just didn’t like her. I didn’t want Taylor to be with her. But then she changed for the better. Something happened that inspired the change in her attitude. And throughout the book we find out why she was so closed off.
As for Taylor, he is a pure amazing Maddox just like his brothers. I fell in love with him right off the bat. He is so kind and patient. And his feelings for Falyn were as pure and real as they could come.

What I loved most about this book was seeing more puzzle pieces come together in the overall family story. To see Travis and Abby’s wedding from another set of eyes. How they react to certain things that they see. It is kind of fun to watch everything come together.

This book couldn’t have had a better name. I won’t give anything away but I will say that the name is perfect and I loved where the author brought this story and she did an amazing job.

I think this is my favorite Maddox brother book so far (Travis excluded of course). You definitely have to grab this book is you are a fan of this series. I can’t wait for Tyler’s book.
