They say a human being needs few things to
exist.
A purpose,
Hope for the future,
But most of all...
Love.
Juliette Portland had all
of those things. Her purpose was simple: Seduce. Deceive. Kill. Avenge. Once
Dornan Ross and his sons were dead, her future was supposed to be clear. Her
life was finally going to begin. And
love... Against all the odds, she had the love of a boy she never thought she'd
see again.
Everything should have
gone according to plan. Everything should have been easy once Dornan was dead
and buried.
Of course, life has a way
of fucking with even the most meticulous of plans, and calling in owed debts
can have the most severe consequences. Thanks to Juliette's diabolical
retribution, the Il Sangue Cartel has lost it’s Kingpin, but not for long.
There’s always someone in the wings, ready to step onstage and seize power. The
Gypsy Brothers Motorcycle Club might be reeling from the deaths of their
President and his six patch-wearing sons, but they’ve come back swinging.
Two deadly enemies,
hundreds of bloodthirsty members, both sides eager to punish those that would
try to topple them.
Two survivors, a man and
a woman, forced to flee in the night.
For Juliette, vengeance
is a hollow victory.
It never, ever ends.
The flames of incomplete
vengeance are licking at her heels, and it’s only a matter of time before the
Il Sangue cartel and the Gypsy Brothers catch her in their grip and crush her.
Unless
she crushes them first.
LARA'S REVIEW:
3.5 STARS
Zero Hour offered another level of closure for those looking for more after One Love. Although I found my closure with One Love, Zero Hour answered a few lingering questions leaving no further loose ends to tie up. It didn't have the same rush and intensity I experienced with the rest of the series but I loved having Jase and Elliot's POVs. Having the voices of the two most important men in Jules' life, the ones that loved her most, added a new layer of emotions to a series that already pushed the "feels" limits. It added another layer of insight into why certain things turned out as they did, and who they were in their own eyes versus how Jules saw them. I especially liked finding out more about Jase's history. Which was devastatingly heartbreaking. The Gypsy Brothers series will forever be one of my favorites. You can't go wrong with an edge of your seat, pulse pounding, suspense thriller with a badass bitch blazing a bloody trail of vengeance.

EXCERPT ONE
I
think about revenge a lot. When I’m thinking of the way the light dimmed in
Dornan’s dying eyes and the way he said you
killed my sons. How beautiful it was, and how hollow.
EXCERPT TWO
I don’t even stop to see what kind of
furniture the room consists of. I throw Juliette on the floor and pounce on her
like I’m a lion and she’s my catch.
My
dick’s inside her within three seconds of the door closing, even though its
dark in here, the only light from a couple of candles throwing off weak light.
It could be the middle of the day and I wouldn’t have a clue, because all I can
see is Juliette Portland underneath me, her legs spread and her pussy full of
me. I put my hands around her neck. I want to squeeze. I want to choke her so
fucking badly. Goddamn it! I stop
grinding my cock into her. I just stop.
“I don’t want to hurt you,” I whisper
in the dark. “Julz, the things I used to do in this place—I used to hurt people
and get off on it. I don’t want to hurt you, baby.”
She reaches up and grabs hold of my
face; I can just make out her eyes, her pupils almost swallowing any trace of
green.
“Jase,” she breathes, “What if I want
you to hurt me?”
EXCERPT THREE
“When you blank out. When you go away.
You’re with him, aren’t you?”
I take a step back. I feel like I’ve
been punched. I don’t respond. I don’t even say, who do you mean, because we both know who we’re talking about here.
“Hey,” Jase snaps. “I want you to
answer me.”
I can’t breathe. It’s like Dornan’s in
the room. I feel his warm breath on my neck, the way he always tasted the same
in my mouth. Like salt and cigarettes.
“Answer me,” Jase growls.
I break. “What?” I hiss. “What do you
want from me? Do you want me to lie? I was supposed to kill him, and that was
meant to be the end of it.”
Jase looks like he’s about to hit
another wall. Or me.
“He’s dead,” he spits, “He’s dead, but you’re the one who’s gone. I need you to
come back. I need you to come back to me.”
“I don’t know how!” I yell.
“You’re not trying!” he explodes. “You
just sit here, in your dark little universe, thinking about him! Did you think
about him while I was fucking you last night? Huh?”
EXCERPT FOUR
They say the apple never falls far from
the tree, and I’d say this apple never fucking fell, period. I’m the shiny apple that might’ve looked the best on the
surface—different to the rest of them, full of promise that there was another
way—but they broke me. They made me worse than any of them could ever be.
I hurt people. I hurt women.
I killed people.
And that’s not even the worst of it.
The first man I ever killed was John
Portland, and I cried as I pulled the trigger. Yeah, I was a stupid kid and he
begged me to do it, and yeah, it was a mercy killing, but it doesn’t matter.
Point is, his life was the first one I took—I
killed Juliette’s father, for Christ’s sake—and after I ended his life with
a single bullet, delivered in the dark in a dirty basement, I didn’t stop.
I couldn’t stop.
The last person I killed was Donny, my
last surviving brother, and that was eight months ago. I ripped his fucking
eyeball out before I butchered him, and the one single thing that stopped me
from dismembering him was knowing that Juliette was watching me. Her screams
broke through my haze of red, as I took Donny’s own knife and sunk it into his
flesh, again and again, so deep it hit bone more than once. I severed the
tendons that made his arms work, so he was putty underneath me. I straddled my
own brother and thrust upon him the vengeful punishment that they all deserved.
For Julz. For my mother. For everything.
I killed him, and I haven’t killed
since.
I’m hungry. My palms are itching. It’s torture.
I don’t know how long I’m going to last
before I have to draw blood again.
