Sweet Thing by Renee Carlino is a story centered on love. It is not just about loving that significant other, but also all those who make an impact on your life. This is a wonderful story of self-discovery, healing, and learning that sometimes it’s okay to just let yourself go.

Mia Kelly is a self-assured young woman who thinks she has life figured out. She believes that she can control the outcome of her life by making level headed choices, leaving her heart completely out of it. She does not believe in the concept of faith or fate. She is so convinced of these beliefs that she makes several wrong choices that hurt not only herself, but also those she loves. She is so focused on listening to her mind that she constantly ignores her heart and even things that are right in front of her face. We follow Mia into her journey of self-discovery and are introduced to many wise, funny, and lovable characters along the way.

We are treated to our first glimpse of the yummy, sweet, temperamental Will Ryan when he meets Mia on the airplane after her father’s death. Though Mia sizes him up as unsuitable as boyfriend material, they become fast friends. They both feel an undeniable pull towards each other that they both try to push aside. Throughout the story, Will melted my heart so many times. His patience, understanding, and unconditional love for Mia is definitely swoon worthy.

While Mia and Will are the two main players in this book, the author has done an exceptional job of pulling in the supporting cast right down to Mia’s yellow lab, Jackson. The characters come alive and are so down to earth that you forget that they aren’t real.

Sweet Thing is a book full of raw emotions. From heartbreak to happiness, from feeling completely lost and lonely to almost being filled to the brim with life and love, we witness Mia’s struggles and her triumphant journey through her own personal transformation.

I have read a lot of erotica since the infamous 50  Shades of Grey. A lot of them are all about the sex and the story takes the back seat. Not here! There is lots of hot steamy sex scenes but the story really shines through.

Tasha has just ended her marriage to her high school sweetheart or in this case her high school assface! Her bestie takes her to Leather and Lace night to shock her out of her button up shirts. Tasha was floored when her friend took her to club that was having BDSM night. She runs into Dylan Caprese outside and he is all hot sex on legs and he is completely taken by her beauty. They have a drink together and he claims her as his but she doesn’t want to be any ones anymore. I would have been more than happy to take her place.

Dylan is into BDSM and introduces Tasha to Shibari which means “to tie”. The contemporary meaning of Shibari describes an ancient Japanese artistic form of rope bondage. He never pushes her further than her limits. He eases her into his life style. I loved that he didn’t rush her and immediately have her tied up and hanging from the rafters. I respect Sloan for showing us that BDSM isn’t all about spankings and punishment. He really cares for her and treats her with the upmost respect and waits patiently for her to trust him. It isn’t till they have a foundation of trust before lines like this appear in the book:

And with a muse like that, how can you not fall in love with this book? This is a great debut erotica from Sloan. Her characters are amazing and the story truly captivated me. This is one book I will read over and over again. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next with Tommy’s book.
