Alice Clayton has done it again. She has hit us with humor,
drama, and some angst. Screwdrivered is
the 3rd book in the Cocktails series. If you haven’t read Wallbanger
I highly suggest it, like run to Amazon this instant and one click that sucker,
it’s one of my all time top reads.
Screwdrivered is Viv’s story. We briefly meet her in Rusty
Nailed when Wallbanger aka Simon attends his high school reunion. From the moment
we meet Viv I liked her. She is different and doesn’t really care what others
think. We learn in Screwdrivered that she is loyal to her family. She left the
idea of her dream job as an artist to come back home to help take care of her
father who had gotten sick. Several years later, when her father is better and
she is the owner of a very successful software program company, she starts
craving that adventure again.
One night she receives a mysterious call from someone in
California that her great aunt that she barely knew had passed away and left
her a house. Viv, who loves romance novels, looks at this as a sign. A sign to
go on this adventure and see where it leads and that could possibly be livening
out her very own romance novel. When she
arrives in California she meets Hank the cowboy who is H.O.T and every woman’s
dream. Then she meets Clark who is the nerdy librarian who makes Viv’s life a
living hell. Who will Viv choose? Will
it be the hot cowboy makes her forget who she is whenever he is around or the
librarian who she loves going toe to toe with?
As with all the books in this series I enjoyed this book. I
didn’t like it as much as Wallbanger, but it still holds it own in the
series. I did love that we got to see
Simon and Caroline in this installment. The book was a tad slow in the
beginning but once it got going I couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait to see
what Ms. Clayton has in store for us in Mai Tai’d Up.
