Title: Number Thirteen
Author: Bella Jewel
Release Date: March 19, 2014
Genre: Dark Romance
**AUTHOR NOTE - This is NOT a BDSM Romance**

We're thirteen girls, captive, slave to our master. A master we've never seen. Obedience will become all we know in our shallow existence. It is the only emotion we're permitted to feel. When we're bad, we're punished. When we're good, we're rewarded. Our scars run deep. Yet we survive, because we have to... because HE teaches us to. All of us are special, we feel it with everything we are. He has us for a reason, but it's a reason we don't know. We've never seen his face, but we know that something deeply broken lies beneath the darkness. With every touch, with every punishment, we know it. Then something changed. He showed me who he truly is. Now I want him. I'll go against everything I know to be with him.
A monster.
My monster.
Loving him is a sin, but a sinner I am. I won't stop until I see every part of him. Even the parts he keeps locked deep down inside.
I am Number Thirteen, and this is my story. No one said it was pretty, or right, but it's mine.

No one deserves to die.

But I did die, that day.
And in my place, a monster was born.

Ugh...this prologue...I felt it.
My heart literally broke for William and his pain...oh it gave me chills...typing this and thinking about it again still gives me chills.

When William was only thirteen years old, he was left blind in one eye and horribly scarred on one side of his face due to an attack by some sixteen old bullies.
Why? Because the bully's girlfriend thought William was cute and had pretty eyes...and William? He had no clue who this girl even was.

Fast forward and many years later we meet thirteen girls who have all been taken, drugged, and locked in a crate with no memory of not only their lives but their names as well. The girls go by numbers instead of names - our heroine is Number Thirteen.

I’m being kept slave to a master I don’t see.
The rules are simple - do as you are told and don't try to escape. As long as the girls or 'groups' do as they are told then they will not be punished but rather rewarded.

“You may be girls, but you’re also human. There are consequences for every action. If you don’t want those consequences, then you don’t make mistakes. What I am doing here is giving you a lesson.”
William keeps himself hidden from the girls, never allowing them to see him or his face fully; however, when he has to step in to rescue Number Thirteen from a substitute guard, she gets a glimpse of William fully. She isn't turned off or scared of his scarred face, she feels hurt and sadness for him and along the way she also starts seeing him as a person and not as a 'master'.

"A beautiful heart can never love a dark heart. But a dark heart can crave a beautiful one, and it will. I will crave you, beauty."
Now don't get this wrong - if you are looking for a master/slave or dom/sub type of book than this is definitely not the book for you; this is the story of a broken man that made a choice to either become a monster himself or help bring other damaged souls from their own darkness and help them heal. If that appeals to you at all - then definitely one-click.

From this day forward, I am the only thing I have fought for. I am mine. I am his. I am Number Thirteen.
