This
was pretty quick and light read for me. The author does a fantastic job at
making me emotionally connected to the characters from the get go. I loved the
rhythm and flow of the story. It takes place in a 4 day span, but she kept it
at a great pace that didn't feel rushed.
The
characters were great. I admire Marlene. It isn't easy being a single mother,
but she does it. She works hard to provide for her daughter Nil. Not only that,
but she showers her with love and attention. Nil is her world.
Luke
up and left her when she was 20 year old AND 8 months pregnant with their
daughter in order to pursue his dream. Selfish? Yes, but as the story goes
along, you find out about his past and how it played in to him leaving.
He is now back, 4 year later, and regrets leaving. He wants them back.
Their passion is still there on the surface, but he has to break through her
defenses and get back her heart. I really enjoyed Luke, from his cocky attitude
to his huge heart he definitely won me over.
Buuut,
Marlene has a boyfriend now, Finn. Basically she is with him because he is the
safe choice. He loves her and wants her and Nil to move with him to Paris. Her
safe choice doesn't seem so boring when he shows that he is willing to fight
for her and their future. Will Marlene choose the safe guy or the one who has
the potential to shatter her heart again?
