Not just by the jagged scars that line her body, but by the horrible memories that cloud her mind and haunt her dreams. The ones that make her want to flee from herself and from the devastating pain. The ones that cause her to placate herself with sex. Anything to make her forget. But for Fran, there's nowhere to hide from the darkness that swallows her whole. Matt Dixon is the gorgeous brother of her best friend's fiancée. He's suffered losses of his own and isn't willing to let anyone in until his unexpected encounter with Fran Heller, the girl who challenges him and causes him to take a second look, not only at her, but at his own life. But Matt has scars of his own. Together can they help each other discover that second chances really do exist? That love doesn't have to hurt? Or has the damage they've both suffered cut too deep to ever heal? **NA/Contemporary Romance with language and mature sexual content.**

I am officially a Beth Michele fan. Scarred Beautiful was my
first Beth Michele book and she nailed it for me. This book has everything I’m
looking for in a book. It had heartache, it had angst, it had happy moments, and
it was H.O.T. I had a hard time putting
this book down and caught myself sneaking a read when I would wake up in the
middle of the night.
We meet Fran who is moving up the corporate ladder and is
heading out to her first conference in a new position. Fran has some skeletons,
or in her case scars, in her closet. Scars she hides from everyone. She also hasn’t
had an easy go at life the past few years. All that together keeps her closed
off from people. She only has 1 close friend and won’t even think about a
relationship.
Then walks in Matt, the super successful business man who it
H.O.T. Major swoon worthy points with him. He also had scars of his own. Scars
that have made him try and control every part of his life that is till he meets
Fran. They are attending the same conference and as soon as they meet she turns
his life upside down and he isn’t sure if he is ready for it.
The secondary characters were a perfect fit. I loved Caleb
and Peyton; they were the perfect sidekicks for Fran and Matt. I enjoyed seeing
the relationships between the family members that were brought in also. Caleb’s
family, can I make them my own?
I really enjoyed this couple. I loved watching their relationship
grow. The banter between Fran and Matt is great and it made me smile and laugh.
Fran is a fire cracker that is trying to pull that stick out of Matt’s ass, and
he isn’t sure why but he is drawn to her, but he is. The book only takes place within
about a week or so and it didn’t feel rushed. They take their time getting to
know one another. The epilogue was perfect. I, of course, would love more of
their story, but am so happy with the way things were left. If you are looking for that heartwarming book
that will in the end make you smile; this is it.
